Just saw on today show. There has got to be some common thread with these girls. The vaccine, art supplies, chemical exposure...
something.
It reminds me of Micheal J Fox story I believe there was exposure from a camp he worked at that sprayed for bugs.... years later the tics and arm movements began happening.

Contact his foundation for help. Why not?

There is a common thread. Are these girls friends and have they been smoking the same synthetic marijuana ?

The common thread might be something they all do not want to talk about or admit to !

I watched the same program this morning and my heart goes out o the girls !!

It sounds like it might be a vaccine related injury. In any case, the parents should get together and document every detail about their girls, around the time of the onset of symptoms, looking for commonalities beyond the environment of the high school. It seems like they are searching for answers at the high school and have not extended the inquiry into other possibilities.

Also, they should see a Naturopathic doctor, who will look at the girls with a more holistic eye (not one blinded by science, alone).

This sounds like P.A.N.D.A.S.First a person gets a specific type of strep infection which is either overlooked or not treated with antibiotics and then these symptoms start out of the blue.I came across this information years ago when researching tourette's.The book i read this in said that some kids recovered with agressive antibiotic treatment. If this is what this is then we can assume this strep virus is present at the school and the place needs to be shut down and top to bottom disinfected.

My heart goes out to these girls and their families. When you become ill with something that is affecting the brain, it needs to be explored a little deeper. I do not believe that it is Conversion Disorder, and I cannot believe that some Doctors can actually say that with a straigth face. You have 12 girls with "tourettes like" symptoms and they are saying its all in their "heads". I have recently been diagnosed with Lyme Disease and two co-infections, babesia and bartonella. Lyme can cause these kinds of neurological symptoms. I had a hand tremor (looked just like Parkinson's) and was told from a neurologist that is was stress!!! I said to him, "how do you have stress affect one side of your body only", makes no sense.
I went to see a Lyme Literate Dr. and have been on antibiotics for 4 months now and my hand tremor has improved tremendously. It's worth looking into. I was 17 when I first developed my symptoms and 22yrs. later, I was finally diagnosed after having 4 eye surgeries, seizures, slurred speech, tremmors, diagnosed with Graves disease as well.
It's not fair that the health officials are not looking at Lyme disease as a possibility. The blood tests are not always accurate either.
Please think about this, do some research, it is worth it. I will pray for these girls that they get the "Right" answer and begin treatment.

Isnt it odd that it has only happened to girls at the school and not males?
I read somewhere that Tourettes affect boys 3x more than in girls. And it usually appears between 3-9 yrs old, not in your teens.

Apparently they havent gone over these girls whereabouts or common things deeply enough.

It's a shame, the one brunette girl on TV Tuesday was very pretty. I hope they find a way to help these girls. I also hope that they are not being bullied, harrassed or made fun of by others in their school. The principal needs to put a ZERO TOLERANCE on that issue.

Did they have Strep Throat before the tics started?

What is Sydenham Chorea?

Sydenham chorea (SD) is a neurological disorder of childhood resulting from infection via Group A beta-hemolytic streptococcus (GABHS), the bacterium that causes rheumatic fever. SD is characterized by rapid, irregular, and aimless involuntary movements of the arms and legs, trunk, and facial muscles. It affects girls more often than boys and typically occurs between 5 and 15 years of age. Some children will have a sore throat several weeks before the symptoms begin, but the disorder can also strike up to 6 months after the fever or infection has cleared. Symptoms can appear gradually or all at once, and also may include uncoordinated movements, muscular weakness, stumbling and falling, slurred speech, difficulty concentrating and writing, and emotional instability. The symptoms of SD can vary from a halting gait and slight grimacing to involuntary movements that are frequent and severe enough to be incapacitating. The random, writhing movements of chorea are caused by an auto-immune reaction to the bacterium that interferes with the normal function of a part of the brain (the basal ganglia) that controls motor movements. Due to better sanitary conditions and the use of antibiotics to treat streptococcal infections, rheumatic fever, and consequently SD, are rare in North America and Europe. The disease can still be found in developing nations.

Is there any treatment?

There is no specific treatment for SD. For people with the mildest form, bed rest during the period of active movements is sufficient. When the severity of movements interferes with rest, sedative drugs, such as barbiturates or benzodiazepines, may be needed. Antiepileptic medications, such as valproic acid, are often prescribed. Doctors also recommend that children who have had SD take penicillin over the course of the next 10 years to prevent additional manifestations of rheumatic fever.

So far I've seen two typical neurotic looking mothers with their now neurotic daughters. I am a single Dad of a wonderful 19 yr old son (whom I had to fight for). My son's mom looks just like the two neurotic moms. I've seen no Dads so far in this scenario !

Is it possible that the perfect world women have created in divorce court is blemished ? Living with moms alone might not be " So Perfect " !!

The dysfunctional world created by whores of the court, primarily parasitical lawyers, is destroying this country within !!!

oh what young girls will do for attention. Maybe if they would stop sticking hardware in their faces they might not get sick. They all probably got piercings 'somewhere on them' from the same roach hole and developed a toxic heavy metal reaction. Sorry ladies, but simple ear rings are ok, the other piercings and tattoos are trashy. Have some respect for yourself. Don't go backwards in time.

I absolutely have to disagree with some of the commenters saying that it lies upon the mother's and their family relations. There has to be some type of common denominator that the girls have, such as, a hang out place. When I was a young girl, my friends and I all liked to have bomb fires, and just hang out in the woods (a place where are parents were - typical teenage stuff) and because we live in an endemic area(NY) for ticks that carry Lyme and other infections, I became infected in my teenage years... the docs. said "Cat Scratch Disease" but in fact it was more than just that. Unfortunately, Lyme isn't something the gov. wants to talk about, it can cause a panic, so its hush hush..
I could be way off base here, but its just an opinion. I am not a doctor, I just know how awful it is to have a medical condition that is being overlooked as "psychosomatic" because of being female. After watching the Today show and seeing Thera (beautiful girl) to hear that Dr. tell her and her friends that its Conversion Disorder, I honestly could feel her stress at that very moment. She seems like a smart girl, and will not take that as the "Final Answer". Its BS if you ask me!
I would definately look into "tick borne diseases" its very possible and that could be why the doc's do not want to divulge any detail into this..

I will be praying for all of these girls!!

I feel for the families going through this. Let's focus on what is important here and work on getting these girls better. All the media attention can not be helping the matter. The outraged father is not helping matters (James Dupont). If this is truly a mass psychogenic illness these families need to stop going to the media because it will only make it worse and more cases will hit the street.

Did all these girls try "Huffing" ? Hopefully they will be honest about coming forward if they're hiding something.

Otherwise they may be suffering from a form of Dystonia. Spasmotic Torticollis, a muscular disorder that affects the neck, cervical spine and shoulders.

Check it out ?

That huffing stuff can really mess up a head and if you have a group daring each other, it can spell disaster. And the residue may dissipate without traces. The whole psycho babble doesn't hold water. Those kids aren't faking the physical affects. They just can't control and mimic those gestures.
You're not hearing the whole story, the back story.

Better look at WiFi and other EMF emmiting instruments,Are there cell phone towers nearby.Electromagnetic fields cause neurological effects, there are many scientific studies that have proven this.

Daily Horoscope for May 18

Aquarius

Watch out if you're going shopping, because you'll be tempted to splash out on impulse buys. This doesn't matter so much if you're feeling flush, but it could cause problems if you're supposed to be counting every penny. Whatever the state of your finances, you may buy items you don't need and possibly even won't like when you look at them again tomorrow.
