I am one of the 20 or so black people that currently attend URG. I have never felt threatened by anyone here. I know the girls that were attacked, no it was not right for the person to write that on their door but, maybe if they acted like college students, and respected the people they live with (being quite when it is night time), maybe it would not have happened. I'm just saying...

I agree, however whoever done it does deserve punishment but so do the so called "victims" for not being proper adults, and mature enough to follow the guidelines.

It is down by the Bob evans farms. My sister went there it is actually a nice small college.
I shouldn't make fun of it since the college I went to doesn't even exist anymore. That's pretty sad.

Like I stated, no one has ever said it was OKAY to harass or discriminate against anyone on the basis of race, sex, creed, or color----end of story!

I hope these ladies reconsider. Stand strong and overcome this stupidity. You deserve to be there just as much as any other person on campus. I believe and certainly hope that there are many more people on the Rio campus who are above this ignorance and want you to stay. I am a Rio Grande alum and am ashamed to be associated with such an event taking place and hope that the administration will find the person or persons who did this and send them packing.

I think it is very good for you to come forward and perhaps give an explanation as to why someone would have done such a thing. However, "name calling", especially racist name calling is not the way to handle it. I realize that Davis is a freshman dorm and that freshmen are sometimes still just immature teenagers, but at this time in a student's life they need to know the consequence of their action and realize that there are certain ways to handle situations and there are definitely things you shouldn't do.

You are absolutely correct. It is a disgrace for anyone to use it, including the slang term version that ends in "a". You meant to type "quit"- not "quite".

As a former college standout and former trustee, I am not shocked with this incident. The college has become nothing more than a high priced two year school that will not have a four-year program in 10 years. Elaine Armstrong-you have to accept the blame for this incident. You are not a strong leader and I am not a fan of anything you have done while at Rio--get out while you can, please! Barry Dorsey created an atmosphere of disrespect and shame--thankfully he's gone.

Let us all see what happens next in this saga. I am sure that Rio's admin will not take a stand against Bias of all types and create an assessment and response program--they just can't see the depth of what needs to be done on the Raccoon.

If this were anything but racial nothing would have happened. Did everyone know that the Rio Admin forced a gay male to exit the school and transfer b/c of Rio being a hostile environment for GLBT students. That incident was kept quiet thanks to Elaine.

Rio, you are now disgracing my degree and my reputation--I'm not going to step aside and allow this to continue.

I'm going to fight the downfall on the farm.

Just because something like this has happened here, doesn't mean that Rio needs to be looked bad upon. It's a college for goodness sakes and some college students act like 2 year olds here...it's a freshman dorm. That explains it right there. I'm sorry that the girls had to face this but...it could be worse. I have never once felt in danger here while attending URG and I honestly think that all this act was, immature people trying to be cute by pulling this stunt. To the person(s) that did this: If you are going to college, you need to act like you are in college...not preschool.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Virgo

If something is weighing on your mind it will start to affect your health, Virgo. It might make you feel tired or depressed, or it could dominate your thoughts. You know what you should do about it, of course, but it seems like too much effort or you want to pretend that it doesn't exist. Unfortunately, this escapist attitude won't make the problem go away and might even make it more tricky by the time you finally decide to tackle it.
