A reason why my son left this university after 2 years.

It so sad that we are still such a bigoted society.

I want to express that I am saddened and disgusted by these actions. I want to apologize on behalf of the University and stress that this does NOT reflect the opinions of the majority of students or staff here, just one unfortunate and ignorant individual. We are proud of our students and encourage and appreciate diversity. I hope this doesn't paint us in a bad light.

I hope these students don't transfer. This is just what this racist wants them to do. By standing their ground they make a statement. Too many people, black AND white, tolerated police dogs, batons and firehoses back in the 60's in order to obtain fairness in education/schooling.Nobody in their right mind can condone this type of activity.

This incident saddens me. I have visited the campus of Rio Grande and found it to be a welcomed change. Change from the distractions of the city life. A place where your child can go and attend school with little or no problems. I am also angered that a few children have come to sneak around and engage in a cowardeous act that has disrupted the harmony of this campus. I hope they understand the severity of their action. Prejudice is to never be taken lightly, in more cases than not it has ended in death. Death for being a race of which you have no choice. I hope the children anticipating transfer will stand strong against these cowards and let them know, they need to leave! And in the real world they are not welcomed. We live in a diversed world, get over it already.

I am saddened by the act of these cowards. I have visited the campus and spoke with the staff. It was a breathe of relief. I wanted my daughter to attend because I did not get the prejudice feeling there. I hope they run the cowards who disrupted the harmony of the campus away. The world is too diversed for this behavior to be tolerated at all! To the students stay strong, for if this is the way the campus was truly ran, you would not have been there in the first place.

My son has been a student at Rio for the past 4 years. This is the first time any type of "racial" incident has occurred. While it is not right and the person causing the problem should be delt with, Rio along with other colleges are not immune from these problems. What would possess a person to attack another in this manner? This is just another incident in today society where people think that they can do anything to anyone without conquences. Hopefully campus security will find the person and give them the punishment they deserve.

Racism Allegations At University Of Rio Grande - what a misrepresentation of a incident involving moron(s) that thought they would be cute in a very ignorant sort of way. To top that off you also have others that feed the fire by wanting to run away from the mean graffiti idiots and go to another school. To me its like spray painting the word 'FIRE' and everyone diving out the windows when they read it. There are laws to prosecute these type intellectually challenged idiots. Also, is this the only place on earth that someone written a derogatory comment? File a police complaint, quit running away, all ethnic cultures have their racist minority idiots, and finally - quit crying to the press.

30 years ago Capital University allowed white students to print a newsletter that showed monkeys getting financial aid. There was a sit-in demonstration; didn't stop me from finishing my degree there. Did stop me from sending them not a dime of alumni money. This was one of many incidents. Higher education isn't a guarantee against racism.
