The worst fear of neighborhood residents was that the Kroger store would sit back farther in the lot than the Elder Beerman store. That is exactly what is being done. The store and it's loading docks will be jammed up against a quiet neighborhood simply because it is desired to put a Kroger gas station in front. So to make room for adequate parking, the store will have to sit back in the rear edge of the lot. If Kroger had been forced to buy the building of the Grismer tire store, the gas station could have been put there. To minimize Kroger's costs Grismer is not moving. So Grismer will be located in a Kroger parking lot, with a Kroger gas station next to it. As the result the store will be shoved back to the legal limit from a quiet neighborhood. It will be much more annoying to residents than the EB store was. Residents would have been ok with the store, had it not been planned in the most obtrusive part of the lot for these residents. No concern showed by Kroger or Centerville Govt.

Wouldn’t it be possible to build some sort of sound barrier between the docks and the homes? My fear was what would happen to the area if Kroger had not obtained the lot for a new store. What would have been there after EB? The grocery store has been an eye sore for …… years. Doesn’t the Kroger Super Store in Lebanon face the same scenario? Seems to me there are homes behind that store. Have they found a solution to their problem? It will be nice to have a Kroger Service Station in the vicinity to take advantage of lower fuel prices in lieu of driving to Lebanon. Hope the management stays the same; they are awesome and provide many positions for adults and students in our area.

The Kroger store in Centerville is to crowded and always busy. We have needed a new Kroger for as long as I can remember. We live near Sam's and the gas station is not noisy at all. The grounds are kept nice and the parking lot is clean. Sure, everyone is concerned about their neighborhoods, but a new Kroger store would not only save having an empty building in the neighborhood, which could become a place for vagrants, crime, etc., but it would eventually lower the property values. We have too many empty buildings in Centerville now. A Kroger MarketPlace would be a great improvement to the area.

That it is .. and speaking of clean; every time I pass by Dorthy Lane Market at 7 AM there is a person out there picking up any and all trash that might have accumulated. We need more flourishing businesses in our community and another vacant building would not contribute to our betterment. And as I mentioned, the Lebanon store seems to work. Try Deerfield Twp and the Sams Warehouse or WalMart Super Store right in front of the $1,000,000 homes on Mason Montgomery Rd. Can't wait for the new store to open ...
