As much as I see the Democrats as misfits in the Paterson City council, they do get things right once in a while. Hiring attorney Michael DeMarco, who served as their legal counsel during last year’s flood overtime hearings is one of them.

The city council also got it right when they fired two city officials, Personnel Director Betty Taylor and the mayor’s chief of staff Charles Pettiford. They should have also fired Business administrator Charles Thomas and Community Development Director Lanisha Makle instead of suspending them.

Paterson Mayor Jeffrey Jones is running scared. He knows he is next on the list with investigations from the city council and the state on his accepting overtime pay he already admitted he wasn’t entitled to. Criminal charges should be pending. Could a forced resignation or recall be in the mayor’s future?

Anyway former Mayor Jose Torres is watching and has already said he will be running in 2014. Jones is going to make it easy for him.

All good points, however, people with short memories forget that the City of Paterson was already more than $70M in the hole when former Mayor Joey Torres was defeated.

Furthermore, due to mismanagement of HUD funds by the Paterson Housing Authority under former Mayor Torres, the City was also under investigation by that federal entity. So, by re-electing former Mayor Torres...

You also appear to have forgotten that former Mayor Joey Torres is a Democrat as well.

Good points of course. Even though they would generally run things better, Paterson does not have any Republicans who would run and win.

Mayor Torres did bring jobs and tax dollars to Paterson Loew's, Home Depot, another McDonalds, City Center Mall.

All the current mayor and council do is bicker while Paterson decays further.

Over all Torres will do a better job then the rest of them unless you have someone else in mind...

Again, former Mayor Torres left Paterson over $70M in debt, and under investigation from HUD by the time he left office.

Now, regarding you feeling that Republicans run things better, do you mean how former President George W. Bush ran things for eight years before he left office? He didn't do such a good job either; would that there be a happy medium between the two parties.

Just because I am an unashamed Republican does not mean I am a blind loyalist. I didn´t vote for Bush 41 or Bush 43 for President.

However, during the 2010 mid-term elections 17 Republican governors were elected to office and have reduced their states unemployment rate at fifty percent the rate as the economy nationally.

Article headline: New Republican governors rapidly bringing down unemployment in their states http://www.examiner.com/article/new-republica...

The unemployment rate in Democrat controlled East Orange stands at 13.27 percent. Nationally it is 8.2 percent. http://zipatlas.com/us/nj/city-comparison/une...

Article headline: Black Youth Unemployment Rate Increases To 40.5 Percent In March 2012 http://wherechangeobama.blogspot.com/2012/04/...

Article headline: Commentary: Black Unemployment Is Even Worse Than You Think http://www.bet.com/news/national/2012/07/05/c...

Article headline: Unemployment Rate May 2012 – Hispanics/Latinos had the Largest Monthly Increase http://censuschannel.net/cc/news/unemployment...

Well, at least you aren't a blind Republican loyalist; it's the same with me as far as being a Democrat.

As far as high unemployment rates for blacks, there still is rampant racism in America against blacks, it's built into the very fabric of this country's history, and that will never go away.

As far as the unemployment rates for Hispanics/Latinos, they are the largest and fastest growing non-white ethnic group in this country, therefore, their unemployment rate will be high as well,(also due to the same racism that's built into the very fabric of this country's history).

Additionally, I'm guessing that many people in some quarters highly resent Hispanic/Latinos simply because of the fact that their population numbers have exploded.

As you know, we have a Republican governor here in New Jersey; what are your thoughts on him?
