Are you kidding me? This article sounds like they feel sorry for him! "...did not resemble a hardened criminal...", but when it's some 18 year old kid from the "Near East" side then they talk like he's Capone or Bin Laden! And people say racism don't exsist?! Worse, yet cry "reverse racism" when they get a taste of their own medicine. Co-defendant got ONE DAY and guns were involved? Guess that's what "Joe, the electrician" gets when times are hard and he turns to crime. But Jamaal, the janitor gets NO sympathy.

Hardened criminal? Hardly! It was just pot.

This man deserves a medal, not prison.

You've got to be kidding me! 20 years for weed, when selling it is almost legal in some parts of the country with a doctors prescription. Granted,he did break the law and I suppose some sort of punishment is needed to be handed out in a case like this, but 20 years?! And everybody with this "Jamal" talk,WTF? Crack is a totally different monster as far as the mentallity of it's users, sellers and social side effects. Get a clue people,we're talking about 20 years for selling something the majority of people think should be legalized in some fashion.

First off, there are no prescriptions for medical marijuana. There are doctor's recommendations for it, which is a fine but distinguishable line.

Second, only 44% of the country what it legalized, which is up from 33% only 5 years ago. Its heading in the right direction.

Third, to me the judge is hypocritical. The "damage" done by this man, which the judge described as parentless homes, is a direct result of the pointless and ineffective drug war. It wasn't Dailey that took these people from their families, it was our federal system. Some day we'll look back and openly admit that our drug war has caused more damage than it prevented, from overflowing prisons, to wasted/lost billions, to filling chaos, murder, rape and torture around the world.

We have sprayed so much herbicide in Columbia that the plants have evolved to be "Round up ready", so we kill everything but the coca plants. Further more, our herbicides cause horrible birth defects in the local populace, but that never gets covered.

We cannot win the drug war, we should switch to an effective strategy.

It's just not worth it. There are so many families that have been destroyed by this man leading them down the wrong path. It is easy to see the wrong of your ways when you have been caught, it is harder to see how wrong it is when you are doing it. I can't even imagine thinking of doing this. How many young people are hooked on drugs because of this man? Some say pot is not bad, yet it can lead to other drugs that lead to death. Alcohol is legal, but it kills everyday. It is easier to turn to the church in hard times than to illegal activites. You will get help, and will not be facing what these individuals are facing. Their whole lives, along with others have been destroyed. How sad. People need to see the error of the way before they go down the road.

I don't understand how most of you are defending this man, he broke the law! Pot is not a legal substance. You think 20 yrs is too much? He had a "ton" of pot, not a baggy. Look at the guns he had to protect his illegal "business". When you have an operation like this it affects the whole community, not just those involved. He deserves what he got, he was the leader. He would have been better off doing his electric work!

It doesn't bother me that he owns guns. He didn't use them in a criminal fashion or he would have been tried for that appropriately.

Alcohol causes 180,000,000,000 in damages annually, yet legal to sell.

Tobacco kills 450,000 people in the us, yet is legal to sell.

Cannabis kills 0 people, and is far safer than either substance to use, yet, we are too stupid to tax and regulate it, so this man is now going to waste a good portion of his life, and a good portion of our tax dollars, for a "crime" that I don't think exists.

You still believe in the "gateway drug theory" which has been discredited and rejected, and advocate religion, which is hardly harmless.

Mr. Dailey has been in prison before for the same thing. He also tired to help someone have someone else murdered. You need to read the past article called the 100 million dollar drug dealer. And yes he is a harden criminal and has been. He Mr. Dailey, I don't believe had my house burnt down, but one of his guys told Dana Cashdollar to burn my house down. Dailey had to protect his guys and the real person behind my house fire didn't get anything and I wish Mr. Dailey would tell the truth about that fire. Mr. Dailey lived in a neighborhood of mostly senior citizens he would always help them out. He'd have the people get the materials and he'd sent his people to do the work. I once told him to stop selling drugs out of the house across the street from me and he did. Well I spoke up but the Pataskala Chief of Police or Mayor wouldn't listen! I don't and won't except any type of apology unless he's willing to tell the truth about my house fire. If he's really sorry then he'd tell the truth about this. I can't get back the year and a half that I was to scared to have my kids and grandkids at my house!! Or the sleepless nights and will spend the rest of my life sleeping with loaded guns.

I know Donald Dailey better than most people and I can tell you he is not a hardened criminal. He has never had anyone's house burnt down, offered to help have someone killed, and he didn't have those guns to protect his illegal "business". He had guns because he was a collector and no other reason. He has never been charged or convicted of a violent crime ever. He didn't take his co-defendents away from their families. They were adults who made that decision on their own and just as everyone is saying about him, they had no problem with what they were doing until they got caught. I know he broke the law but the list of people he helped is longer than one would imagine. He not only helped his family and friends but would be the first to help even a stranger if he could. I don't care what anyone ever says, this man is a kind amnd wonderful human being and doesn't deserve to be in prison for 20 years!!

According to people within law enforcement Donald Dailey had Dana Cashdollar burn down my house to get into his group. Do I believe that no I don't!! I believe someone within Donnie's organization told Dana to burn down my house. But, the person behind this is still walking free. I said if Dana told who told him to burn my house down he could've walked free that same day as far as I was concerned. But he choose to not tell and now he's doing 10 years with no chance of parole. Donnie choose not to say anything and as far as I'm concerned they both can sit in jail for the rest of their lifes until someone tells the truth.

Hey weneednewblood, sounds like your whole arguement is based on the whole theory about your house. At the end of your second posting you say that he "as far as your concerned they can stay in prison until someone tells the truth". So under that theory,if your house had not been burnt down then he should be free or not even been busted at all? I didn't know this man nor care to know him but I highly doubt you would be posting these comments without the safegaurd of him being in prison. Your bitter, which by all means you have the right to be with what you feel he has done to you and your family, but you shouldn't post your beliefs when you have an obvious bias to the situation. WTF?

I have known Mr. Dailey for 35 years.
Convicted previously for the same offense.
Sent to prison before, I believe for 3 years.
Grew up lower middle class.
Future Farmers of America
High School Graduate
I understand that his partner in the electrical business was not involved in Mr. Daileys illegal activities. But now his formaer partner cannot get work for the business due to the negative press Mr. Dailey has brought upon the business as a whole.
Mr. Dailey left his partner oweing over $100,000.00 in tax liabilities all the while not working in the business for over 2 years and holding 3-4 million dollars in his house.
If he was such a nice guy and would do anything for anyone, don't you think he at least would have paid his share of the liabilities for the legitimate business where he was once a partner?
So not only the people in the ring were effected but his Legitimate business partner and his friends as well. The reach of illegal activity goes way beyond what is seen, heard, and reported. I have no issue in dealing in legal businesses. So if you want to grow or distribute marijuana, wait until it is legal. If you can't wait, "Don't do the crime if you can't do the time!" I think Mr. Dailey said it all, "It wasn't worth it."

Mr. Daileys activities reached all people. I reported him to the police long before he was ever busted. That was part of the reason given for him having my house burnt down. So, no I was not afraid to speak up about his activities. I went and got 2 guns and 4 cameras for my house and made sure that all police knew if I called they had better be coming. The police sure knew I was not a person who should have guns. He lived just a few houses down so I knew anything could happen at any time. Once he moved that still was no relief. I lost over a year of my family not coming to my house because I didn't want any of them to ever get hurt over me speaking up. So, I thought he should've been in jail before. I even told police they were getting that baby high. Melvin got 10 years and yes he should've but the person behind getting him in all of this was his stepfather and Dailey and for Dailey to only get 20 years is sad. Melvin is a product of his surrounding. Police should've been paying attention to him since he had already done time for this same thing. As the police tell me if more people would stand up to these types of people we'd clean up our neighborhoods. I don't want and will not stand for drug dealers in my neighborhood. If it cost me my life at some point then so be it at least I know I was doing the right thing and trying to protect my neighborhood and surroundings. It did cost me but I'd do it again in a heart beat. We need more police departments that listen to the citizens when they tell them what's going on.
