It is sad that a father had to be murdered. Curtis Bay has gotten worse year after year. Nobody in the community wants to hear the truth. The police doesn't care. The city doesn't care. If a murder happened in the inner harbor it would be prime time reporting, but since it is in an already drug infested area its the same old same old. People need to either fight back or move out. I know me and my family have talked about moving after this happened. It has become unsafe and more of a liking to west baltimore.

1 I look at it this way. The cops can't sit at one spot and micro manage a small area all the time. We as a community need to stand up and fight for what is ours. If we continue to turn a blind eye and let things continue we only have ourselves to blame. When I was a kid my mother always knew where I was ..... kids now can run around doing whatever and whenever ..... no wonder they grow up with the same ideals they were raised up to believe. Then you get this viral mentality that anything goes and it doesn't matter who gets hurt. If each block around Curtis Bay has at least one some what observant individual who can alert the police and is not afraid to speak up we'd probably be a better community. No more blind eyes = no more problems. Put a spot light on the criminals and watch them head for the hills. |

The fact is the cops do not sit in curtis bay at all. They sit in brooklyn. My tax dollars pay for them to protect and serve the public. Yes, the community can help but I'm not doing what the police supposed to be doing. The police can micro manage the inner harbor or federal hill after a shooting, but they can't do it here. There is no tax revenue being generated in curtis bay because more than half of the people are on welfare or some kind of public assistance. People need to wake up and see that the city and police dept. are screwing us.

The murderer was caught days ago. The victim wasn't a saint and had a criminal record. Both men had drug related criminal records. He was a human being, but was involved with the wrong side of life. The majority of people in curtis bay have no care because they don't appreciate where they live because everything is being handed out to them. If the majority were homeowners and actually worked to pay for a home, then curtis bay would be a better place to live. I have no compassion for criminals that are destroying the community around me and my family. On my block, me a strong few on neighbors, do not tolerate prostitution, drug dealers, drug addicts and trash. We sit out every night and protect our block. I suggest that everyone does the same. I suggest that the people grow a pair and stand up for what is right, instead of supporting what criminal activity is happening right in plain sight. I want the city and the police and the community association to do a hell of alot more. I have expressed my concerns to all 3 months ago and predicted that their would be a murder because of an increase in drug dealing and activity. No body listens and nobody cares. There is too much politics between those groups that they ignore the obvious. Until there was an actual murder, they opened their eyes but only temporarily. The active police patrols only lasted 3 days after the murder and dealers are back selling drugs in broad daylight. The president, Andy Adize is a puppet and plays along to whatever the city does insted of pushing back and demanding more police and city accountability. He goes along with the half ass effort and refuses to believe that crime is getting worse in curtis bay. Change in community leadership and a change in city attitude towards curtis bay is needed. Before someone else is murdered.

1 But we have to understand that this young man was cut down not even at his prime. Way too soon to even begin to understand the meaningless of his death. Was it colors, was it jealousy, was it envy...who really gives a fuck!!! This man has a kid that will grow without him!!!!!! This should be the focus. There was a time when Bmore had no gangs. The only iniation was to be able to come off of your steps and hold your own. You had to be crafty, clever and cagey in order to survive on the streets. You had to be shrewd, but humble. Tough, yet sensitive. The only color was green - that money!!! Now there are so many different colors out there that it seems as though every guy has ditched the green in favor of these misguided approaches to what it means to survive the streets. David is gone and his family will hurt for a very long time. A murderer, if he's lucky, will face a jury and go to prison for the rest of his life and his family will hurt just as hard. Knowing David's mother and his Aunt the way I do, I am sure they will console the other's family as if they were their own. Two souls lost to the ever growing list of senselessness that has gotten out of control. I remember a time when Bmore had no gangs... |

We as a community effort struck gold last night and the police ambushed quite a few dealers. We will be meeting with the police in our area to make more changes Curtis Bay wide in the very near future.
It's a slow change and it took alot of pushing to get some action here but it is happening. Now we have a Sargent making regular visits here and making the dealers and other degenerate trash see themselves for what they are. Before I moved in the people here were fet up but now our block is on fire with a vigilant nature. We got rid of one dealer house and are working on the next and the next....... it's not gonna stop just here. Empower yourselves as individuals and rise up. Be it with your phones, making calls to the police, or just a presence on your block. Let the criminals know that they are being watched. We installed motion sensors, cameras and brighter front porch lights. The police brought a light for the park so the filth can't hide in the shadows. Rumors aren't the only things that grow in the dark. |

It's sad and that's why I feel responsible for the little ones who play across from my house. They should never have to hear gunfire or be approached by a dealer. The only thing these little souls should be are kids. I notice more now that parents are going there with their children as well . I'd been screaming that as a society we are going into moral bankruptcy and this beast mentality our youth have is so viral and hard to break. It took years to get where we are and it's gonna be a long road to fix all that has been broken. My thoughts and prayers go out to you. |

On a final note as I sit here and enjoy the temporary silence of the night.
Not too long ago a man killed thousands of people with several planes and we declared him a terrorist. Shouldn't the dealers and the gangs be considered as such also? As American's it is our responsibility to stop the terrorism on our own soil. Don't just look the other way. Would our men and women overseas look the other way in the face of the enemy? These degenerate scum are basically terrorists they work on a slower and smaller scale but I rank them along the same scale and so should everyone. |

The dealers and gang members here in curtis bay are terrorists. Everybody needs to grow a pair and work with police and rid these people off the streets. These 2 murders in the past month should be curtis bay's 9/11. Its time to act.

Besides Curtisbay01 and I .... is anyone else up for actually standing up to this crap. Tell your family and friends.Talk to your neighbors. If the neighbors are the problem make the call. If they rent get on the horn to the tax ascessor to find out who owns the property. If it's under HUD there's a one strike rule.If it's not I'm sure the landlord doesn't want a criminal tenant anyway.
Spread the word of "Not taking it anymore". |

I agree the watchman. Power is in numbers. The people reading this, if you see crimes call the police. I proudly give my name to the police because I'm not living in fear and I refuse to take all of this crap no more.

I just moved here from Brooklynn Park about a month ago. As soon as I realized the crisis here I started talking to my neighbors and the local police. We had FOX news out here the day after the shooting and that's when things actually came into play with the police and the neighborhood working together. I saw the start of that fatal night. A group of people fighting under the gazebo, a man stabbed being taken to the fire station. And then all the sudden a shot 2 blocks over. People scattering. Sirens everywhere. It's a real tragedy that someone had to die that night to get the police to understand the real plague of crime. Now this new shooting happened last weekend a few blocks over and now maybe the people over there will get sick of it too. Hopefully everyone will start to speak up and stop this before another loved one or one of us falls at the hands of crime. |

the greatest power an individual has is the power of choice. if a person chooses to be associated with the wrong pepople than that person chooses the consequences. He wasn't a saint. he had a criminal record. He was hooked up with the wrong people. There is no excuse for someone to be murdered but what he was involved in he knew the risks involved.
