My youngest son told me there was a fork in the road as we drove home late at night on Halloween. I thought he was joking, told him I was keeping my eyes on the road...and in fact, there is one! How clever and fun...love when the city gets good surprises. The rest of us can enjoy this anonymous piece of art. Well done.

I like it. Whimsical! I'm sure it will be quickly removed in the interests of "public safety", "no permits", "vandalism", etc. etc. We get the government we deserve, after all.

Oh, reread article. The culprit is known. Of course, he gets comedy and irony. Love it! City of Pasadena: please keep the fork in the road!

What a beautiful piece of "tasteful" art ! I think the whole idea was great ! It has become a bit of history so let`s hope it stays !Can you imagine the possibilities of revenues coming into the community! It will become famous like Christmas Tree Lane! And yes,WE DO DESERVE IT ! Thank you to the presenter for sharing his IDEA !

When you come to a fork in the road, take it.
Just do not take this one. Love it! |
As of 2:30PM today Wed, the fork was still stuck there. Good one!!! any others out there?

Ok so who ratted about the Caltrans getups this was supposed to be quiet!
What a great birthday gift! I can now tell my friends to turn at the fork in the road to get to my house. I hope the city of Pasadena and Caltrans allow the fork to remain stuck in the ground.
BTW- I do NOT live in Mississauga, Canada!!
If Caltrans had done it, it'd have cost $2 million.

If that gets to stay then it opens the door for anyone to put up what they want..
I think I would like to put up a big gold pan in support of gold prospecting in California.... If they don't let me do it then I guess I could sue...... |
Leave it to some Denike to try and ruin it for everyone. |

Pasadena`s" Fork in the Road"happens to be a great American comment/saying.As it is,we are losing a lot of our traditional ways of expressing ourselves. If it comes to a point where we have to vote on that art piece that is bugging you ,well then, so be it!We hope it stays!!!!

Sorry but what is fair for one should be fair for all.....
You just don't get the point abc.......... |
they should wrap a giant red ribbon around it to signify the 710 extension red tape
I drive by it at least once a day and smile every time.

It is sure a wonderful piece, but imagine the lawsuits when some drunk person whacks into it, and it falls and injures them. Or when some kid climbs it, falls and breaks a leg. Not to mention traffic sight lines. And it's made of painted wood--it's gonna rot quicker than you think.
The clear solution is to do a feasibility study and, if all works out, refabricate it in a more durable material and reinstall it according to proper construction methods and with safety concerns paramount. It should stay, in the improved version. |

Kinda late.. There's a Fork in the Road in Red hook NY, just outside of Rhinebeck NY where RT199 & RT308 meet. Its almost twice the size and has been there for years.....
See: http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/6285 scroll to the bottom pict to see how tall.. |
