"Decatur Co. Blaze that Killed Fire Chief Ruled Arson"

Published on Apr 16, 2012 by foxnashville

A fire investigation turns into a homicide investigation. It's a task that has several state and federal agencies involved. Investigators are not giving out much information about the fire at Oak Hill Cafe in Parsons, but they do want people to know this crime comes with a heavy sentence, possibly death. State and federal agencies collected enough evidence and spoke with several witnesses before determining the fire was arson. It was a fire that claimed the life of Chief Kenny Fox when he pushed 2 fellow firefighters out of the way of a collapsing roof. Just 9 days after his death, the community learned the fire was intentionally set."That added to the senselessness of what happened," says Decaturville Alderman Melvin Taylor. "Not that Kenny would have done any different. He would have responded in the same way. That's just who he was."The person responsible for the fire will face Capitol 1st Degree Felony Murder and Aggravated Arson charges. Anyone with information should call 1.800.762.3017. You could receive a $1500 reward.

did someone want kenny fox dead?

did someone know he would be a first responder on that date and time, and at that fire location?

was this arson a plan that worked and was kenny fox the target?

or was another first responder the target and kenny fox the unintended victim?

who would want any of these guys dead....and why?

One and the same. I haven't heard the rumor about the son being involved. Actually, no one in Parsons hardly ever talks about it anymore, and when they do, it's just to wonder why in the world Kenny Fox would go into a burning bar at that time of the morning when he knew no one would be in there.

The charges they are seeking are very serious and it appears they have evidence towards Kenny's death not just being intentional but also premeditated.

for it to be first degree murder charge they would have to prove malicious intent and premeditation. whoever set the fire did not know that anyone would go into a blazing EMPTY building in the middle of the night. jmo and the owners son is not under suspicion, the person he got into a fight with that night is under suspicion.

Who did he save? There was no one in the building, other than the firefighters. All of the police officers and firefighters in Parsons knew that patrons frequently left their cars at Oak Hill overnight in order to not have to drink and drive. There's no way Kenny Fox thought, "Oh, there must be someone hanging out in there at 3:30 AM". He had to know the car that was left there was left by a drunk person that caught a ride home or elsewhere with someone else.

The arsonist would have to be a psychic, then, knowing that Kenny Fox would enter a burning building, even though no one was in it. It's a shame that Kenny Fox died in an establishment that he hated.(That's a known fact in Decatur County. Police officers around here know that he hated Oak Hill.)

How could he possibly know for sure no one was in the building? His training doesn't allow for assumptions in a life threatening situation. I'm not saying it all makes sense that night cause I don't think it does. I understand the fire was found to be an intentional act arson and because of that they are seeking capital 1st degree murder charges. I'm not so confident that charge will stick unless there really was a plan to commit murder. The capital charge does put the death penalty on the table though.
