I met this youg girl acouple of times,I feel for her family because they will never be able to see her grow up, But eveyone that has kids or takes care of kids, Love them , talk to them, teach them respect for themselves and others, know where your kids are all at all times, I know where my teens are and they don't drink or do drugs because I tell it like it is. Some parents are to busy with their lovers, booze,drugs, and let their kids go and do what ever, then they get into trouble, then they cry wolf and say my kids don't do that!!!How do you know, where you there watching your kids, or too busy worrying about your boyfriend of the month, or too busy getting drunk on the money you get every month for your kids, using it to sell drugs sniffin some Coke and buying up on jugs to get eveyone else drunk. People kids are a gift from God, some women and men don't deserve to be called parents,look at all the lakota kids in the system,there are enough BASTARDS(kids born out of weddlock)(if u don't believe me look it up)sad but true,Come on ladies and guys have some morales, teach them about family and values,not to just pop out a baby for a guy your shacking up with, then get mad at them and leave them. USE CONDOMS AND BIRTHCONTROL PEOPLE!!!! AIDS IS HERE!!! So in closing I know justice wasn't there, that sucks for LaFaye's family, and Karma is a bitch,so watch what you say and do to other people, cuz karma WILL COME BACK N BITE U IN THE ASS, so I pitty her murders,her blood will be on their hands FOREVER,and they will have to live with it till the day they DIE!!!

I agree there is not much for kids to do on reservations where alcoholism and drugs run rampant. They shouldn't be hurting one another but helping to make the reservation a better place but it'll never happen.

I have never met this young lady, but from the story and comments I've read it's sad all around. A sad ending for a beautiful young native lady. If this is what young native girls are like today, I'm thankful my children do not live on the reservation. I have a beautiful young daughter who goes to an all white school, she has a 4.0 grade average & has many extracurricular activities all while keeping up her grade point average. It all starts from the home, I don't drink, smoke do drugs, I've instilled values and morals in my daughter and I'm proud of her. It's not hard to be a good parent. People need to remember children are a gift from God.

that's a good one!! c'mon now, when people are drunk and stupid or high and stupid the last thing they think about is birth control. The whole reservation men & women should be spayed & neutured for as careful as they are and for as much as they take care of their own children. Yes that was a harsh comment, but all this violence and sadness is heartbreaking and needs to stop somewhere, somehow, sadly I think it never will.

Laura is my sister. I remember the night she left. She got a phone call from one of her friends she trusted. she went to go meet her half way and the next morning we got a phone call saying one of the swallow girls got stabbed. we didn't know what to do because nobody wanted to believe it.

my girl was every thing. she wasn't in a gang, well not that I know of, she was sweet n innocent. they didn't have to do that to her. they're just all jealous she had the attention. Wow i thought it was just the west coast that has this copycat cycle of gangs and cowardness. Now i see its a problem that all natives face and it must be addressed on mostly every rez, we are embarassing ourselves trying to imitate the movies and what we see on tv.pretty sad to know that our ancestors died in hopes of saving this land for future generations they look upon us now with shame and sadness in their hearts. I use the word we because we are all responsible for our families and children the young ones who think it is ok to commit these types of crimes, against their own people none the less.My point being id that we all have a part in what goes on on our reservations and there are many turning a blind eye to these violent acts.
