I still believe that he does have an anointing on his life, but he needs to do some warfare. First, against his insatiable quest for women. This thing is obviously too big for him to overcome himself - he needs some spiritual guidance with this and some old fashion demon slaying. Prayer and fasting will not overcome this alone, but he needs to call this demon by name and have him casted out.

He also stated on that same day that if his wife leaves him he is going with her. OK!

Where is she going?? She got three mouths to feed plus hers and she does not generate any income. She is nothing without him. SHe is just a pretty face and at the end of the day a pretty face will not pay your bills.

And she sees how hard it is for Michelle WEdderburn to get some money from him - so she aint getting no more than anyone else as a matter of faact she will have to split whatever it that he is handing out.

To be real.

I would not go anywhere either. Living in the lap of luxury - playing house wife.

But who is to say she is not sneaking out the back door?

She has commonalities with JHB. Birds of a feather flock together. She may have someone that is coming in through the back.

JHB better watch out b/c menfolk do not like it when the tables are turned!!!!!!!!!!

They act a fool!!!!!!!!!!

His wife better give him some condoms when he leaves the house. Especially, if she stays with him and is layin up with him - better to be safe than sorry.

If he is a dog, then she better teach him the tricks before she gets fleas and heartworms

JHB has that slickster spirit on him. His smile is even a slick smile. I can interpret people and their character really well.

He has this little sly walk about him, too.
When he comes to the pulpit, his swagger is different.

NO doubt, I believe in him and his calling. But for some reason I think this mess is true too.

<quoted text> This is a true and faithful memory of how our churches used to be. I heard a preacher recently preaching to preachers and he said that today there a a lot of young pastors who have never sat under older pastors for an extended period of time. they go to school learn the mechanics of preaching mix it up with some dazzle and start a church. They haven't learned from an elder whose experience has taught him that bending kneeology is more potent that homelitics. Some of what was being taught in the churches of our mothers and grandfathers needs to come back. A Phd. only speaks to what someone has learned in a school, we need to get back to learning from those who set a standard. Jesus was not a Doctor of the Law He was the Law every breath, every step He lived it and exemplified it. We do have a lot of young preachers who have not studied under older anointed men.
Man it's a shame that the people don't even see through it. Father and son teams and husband and wife teams (Some folk are attempting to turn the church into family bussinesses)what are the people learning in Bible Study these days?

So who is this chick that is really pregnant by him?

Was any one there when she supposedly came forward or whatever happened in service that day all of this was exposed?

And picketers? What was that all about??

I really enjoy the associate minister and his word. But he looks like a slickster too. Remember Birds of a feather that is such a true statement.

No I did not see that service but I have seen him make that reference before. He slapps the oil on there hands and ask them questions and they go "under" in the "spirit".
I'm notsaying God wont or can't use him. But JHB has to be careful. Remove self out of the way and move THE CHRIST in.
<quoted text>
There are a lot of ministers that preaches in "self". Just as Askia stated, they go to school, learn big and impressive words and think the're anointed. These preachers think they're so big, they cannot take time to work with someone that really wants to be saved. We want to have people chant a few words and make them think they are saved. That's not real salvation. My folks kept us on the altar and tarried with us until the holyghost came on us and we began to speak in tongues as the spirit gave utterance. This microwave stuff we call "religion" now, I don't know what it is. And about the "slaying" in the spirit thing, I know some preachers that know how to hit a person in the right nerve (in the spine in their back or in the forehead) and making them go out. When I noticed one service people falling out that never go out, I knew something was wrong. I've even heard preachers tell other preachers where to hit a person to make them fall out. I think its crazy!

Member of ET, I feel your hurt and I know how you feel, dealing with the exact thing 10 years ago. You need to take this time to pray and ask God do he want you to stay there or move on. But please don't let his actions cause you to leave the church totally. The thing that happened at my church where my former pastor committed adultery with a woman that he was suppose to be giving "Marriage Counseling" to. That's why I strongly believe that its the job of both "Pastor and Wife" to be present in a Marriage Counseling Meeting - not giving room for the devil to tempt one. Not long after we found out, we came to Bible Class and noticed that his office was opened and cleaned out. We called our Bishop "who entrusted the ministry to him because of his work in another state" to inform him of what went on. This pastor packed up and left - then leaving our Bishop to pastor 2 churches again. The thing that hurt me is that even today, there are some people "especially young people that got saved under his ministry" are affected by this and out of the church because of this. This type of action makes people think that Church is not real - full of hypocrits, preaching one thing and living differently. Be encouraged and take this time to seek God as far as what you should do.

listen. when you are a mother of children and a pastor's wife, it is IMPOSSIBLE for you to attend every counseling session and every crisis because there are several. what i do believe is that there should be another party present at the session so that there is no room for foolishness to happen. But the truth is this, if a person wants to get their freak on, they will find a way to do it in the church, outside of the church and under whatever pretense. MOST of the pastors who provide counseling have no background in counseling or psychology. It is merely a man or woman, called by God to pastor, offering the wisdom of the bible. So they will tell you what thus saith the Lord about a situation but not necessarily employing counseling techniques or methods because they don't know any unless they have been to school for counseling.

ET member, every church in America has some dirt with the man or woman of God because they are people first, and they weren't always saved. Even with being saved does not mean that you won't sin. I am not saying what Jamal or anyone else did or does is right. I am saying that most folk have some type of skeleton in their past that they probably wouldn't want to get around and out. The difference is acknowledging your sins, repenting, and turning away from them. JHB hasn't turned away yet and has some issues with acknowledging that the dirt happened, that's what trips him up. If he just told folks that look I have had premarital sex, been a fornicator, not been a perfect daddy or even a good one at times, folks could respect that because its a lot of folks in his church and in others dealing with the same crap. Folks just want to look extra saved and holy BUT the truth be told, the church is a hospital for sick folks. I don't know what everybody's illness and ailments are but I know I am there because I am sick and I need help. Anybody who comes in like they are all healed are in fact the sickest ones.

Thank-You. A very wise woman. If we confess our sin then Christ is just and faithful, He is able to cleanse us from all unrighteousnes....if we confess and not deny or make excuses.

I stopped going to the church I grew up in because the minister brought in his son. When I was growing up I hated going to that mega church. Everyone was there just to be seen. IT had the largest collection of delusional people in one spot. They did do many wonderful things, like Saturday church school, scholarships. But the bad far outweigh the good.

People need to leave the churches that just preach pray and you get money. Pray! Don't fire the cheating minister, give the church more money and you will get more money miraculously. The only way to get money is to work for it. Wake up christians.

Members of East Baltimore church claim pastor used $1 million
Daily Record, The (Baltimore), May 18, 2006 by Daniel Ostrovsky
For the second time in two months, a prominent Baltimore minister has been accused by members of his East Baltimore congregation of allegedly mishandling more than $1 million in church funds without authorization of the church trustees.
If granted, last week's request for an injunction filed in Baltimore City Circuit Court would prevent Pastor Donte L. Hickman Sr., of the 2,000-member Southern Baptist Church on North Chester Street, from entering church property, and stop the clergyman, the trustees and the deacons of the church from controlling church property.
Among the many allegations in the latest set of pleadings are that Hickman spent more than $540,000 in church funds for the construction of his home and another $190,000 for furnishings - all without trustee approval.
The lawsuit also accuses Hickman of obtaining a $500,000 church loan from a bank without trustee approval, and of pocketing $100,000 he received on settlement of the church-financed home.
Moreover, the suit states that the church's 2005 financial statement shows it spent more than $150,000 over budget, and that while the Church took in revenue of $1,028,801.00, it remains liquid asset (cash) broke and 'in the red' by $51, 053.00.
The latest pleadings were filed by Pastor Emeritus Rev. Dr. Nathaniel Higgs, past Trustee Chairperson Elnora Christian and others. The suit names Hickman, the trustee board and the deacon board of the church as defendants.
Hickman's lawyer, Paul D. Shelton, did not return a call for comment yesterday; however, he has responded to similar allegations in previous court filings.
On April 4, church members filed an emergency petition for a temporary restraining order against Hickman in Baltimore City Circuit Court. The petition was denied on April 12 by Judge M. Brooke Murdock.
In court filings responding to that petition and allegations that the pastor had brought the church to financial ruin, Shelton wrote that the net worth of the church as of Oct. 31, 2005 -$1,982,949 - was $500,000 more than when Hickman became pastor on Jan. 1, 2003.
Church membership, attendance at bible study, attendance in new member classes are at ten year highs, Shelton wrote.
Hickman, Shelton wrote, is not authorized to sign checks, count collections or make deposits for the Church, because all checks require two signers of which he may be one.
But in last week's request for an injunction, Higgs and Christian allege that Shelton misled Murdock during a hearing on the April TRO petition.
They claim Shelton promised Murdock that an annual meeting would be held this month, which would allow church members to consider Hickman's future.
No annual meeting has been announced, last week's lawsuit states.
It also accuses Hickman of appointing friendly trustees in a manner not authorized by church bylaws, and of showing the same untrustworthiness - to a previous church he pastored in Pennsylvania.
The suit mentions past criminal charges faced by Hickman in Baltimore. According to court records, prosecutors decided to nolle prosequi second-degree assault and malicious destruction of property charges against Hickman in 2000.
Several Baltimore ministers yesterday said Hickman is a well- known minister in the Baltimore area.
I support Donte, I just think he is a very gifted minister, said Rev. Willie E. Ray, adding that Hickman should start his own congregation, because he is dealing with a lot of traditional-type people.
Rev. James W. McEachin Jr. expressed his belief that the Bible says that a Christian should never sue another Christian.

I admire your Bishop for firing that minister.

This iw why I say don't juust talk about this. DO something. I wrote all 20 of the Bishops of the AME church expressing how dissappointed I was in them. I challenged them to show their appreciation for thier congregants. Show they have a standard of behavior for theimr ministers, and show they wan to protect their faith and congreagants. I asked they fire Jamal.

Lets be real. IF they fire Jamal it won't end his career. he has too much talent. It should teach him that there is an expectation of basic positive behavior.

Expecting the wife to be in counseling meetings is ludicrous. If the man is going to be a sexual predator, and take advantage of people in their most vulnerable, she is not going to stop him. And if you have to do that, then you need a new minister.

Any outsider that has ever visited ET has to agree on this point:

The MAJORITY of ET's membership consist of poor to low income black single mothers looking for an easier route to the Messiah
What better than a man who views himself as such to allow these women to give money off of their TCA cards or BOA Child Support cards?
They are some bamboozled people
and I don't feel sorry for them

WOW...I feel sorry for you. I will pray the God gives you a heart of compassion. Every where Jesus went He felt compassion for the the people, even the woman caught in the very act of audultery. What you say abot the membership of ET may be true, but what have you or any others done to bring enlightenment to such, have you stood on the corners and preached Jesus?, have you opened the doors of your home to accurate Bible Study, have you taken the time for any one on one discussion with Christ as the centerpiece? There are a lot of people not just ET members, some T.D. Fakes followers who need to be liberated from false doctrine, but they wouldn't be there if they weren't seeking. Without the compassion of Christ we are just a lot of noise looking for somewone else to point our fingers at.

In Jesus' time the Pharisee and the Saducees had religious thought tied up and the people followed them not knowing any better. Christ had compassion on them and took the time to set the record straight.
Mr. Bryant was expected from the time he was a child to be a preacher he was prepared by his mom and dad and was a favorite son of the AME connectional church perhaps even a privileged son of the AME connection receiving his elders' order before he was ordained. We need to acknowledge this because he may not have even been called by God to the position that was set aside for him, he may have been forced Emotionally into it by his parents, he may have some resentment about that. Furthermore we are talking about praying for him (and we should not only for him but for each other as well, his wife the children the girlfriends or exs we should be praying), but if God never called him nomatter how much we pray it will not come to pass. We only receive salvation on God's terms not our own, and onlt those who Gof has called to His ministry have the true authority to walk in it. Pray for Mr. Bryant, Mr. Brown each other and the True Church.

I meant to say Mr. Bryant received his elders orders (ordained an elder) before graduating from college, and this is not the norm in the AME Church.

Rev Jamal Bryant is being crucified in the press, if the alledged women with children do no file action against him it is none of your business or my business.

Jesus always used sinners as examples....I have sinned....and I can imagine this obsessed person who is trying to malign Rev. Bryant has sinned too. Get a life....you do good in the church and community and leave Gods business alone.

Let go and Let God!!!!! go to church and absorb the goodness of the Lord...let the judgment be His.

Whatever!! I believe in the Bible and everything that you are talking about but let me tell you this. He is SUPPOSED to be a man of the cloth. He is supposed to be setting an example. When you take that position - then you know what standard you are held to. He PASTORS, PRESIDES OVER, COVERS over 11, 000 people. Or that is what he is supposed to do not running around screwing people. I dont have REV DR in front of my name. He does.

What are we saying to our young people?? THe young people in the church. Is this their role model??

This is real life!!!!!!!!!
