What a sad thing for all involved!!!!! The money should have been put in a Special Account for the Charities as it was brought in!!! Sad that another business is closing in the Greater Metro Area. You should list the Owners names and maybe they would be SHAMED into giving the money that they took in from the EVENT and then Stole!!!! Just a thought----WHAT WOULD JESUS DO????

Better yet take the owners homes and sell them then take the money to give to charity.

Well, I'm not saying that this was right in any way shape or form; however, the restaurant closed down. Hard times are hitting everyone right now including us. We had to shut our retail shop down recently and I'm still looking for a job.

Don't automatically assume that they just did it on purpose. The best thing for them to have done was like what I did -- when I noticed our business was falling off and we were going to be in trouble, I said no to ALL charitable organziations. I did say yes to 1 because it was relatively cheap, but also had to call them and let them know that I could not do it.

Don't shoot people down even further for going through a hard time. They should have done things differently. They didnt. It sucks, but get over it. Find some other businesses that are doing better and see if they can help cover it.

I understand that the company filed bankruptcy. However, the event was held only 3 months before they filed. So they HAD to have known that they didn't have the funding to cover it. I think it was all a sham. Some way for the owners to pocket money. I've read elsewhere that the Kansas Attourney Generals office is getting involved due to the owners fraud. Good for them. There is a place in hell for those who knowingly fraud a charity.

The Kansas City Star lists the owner as Hope F. Loehr and the publicist for the restaurant’s event, Amanda Frederickson.
