Deal, priced at $5.5 million, would partner City Hall with Boye...

Full story: Park Record

City Hall has negotiated a $5.5 million deal with The Boyer Company to partner with the firm on a development at Quinn's Junction, a highly unusual arrangement for the municipal government that puts taxpayer money into a proposal that has been under consideration for five years.

I've seen City Hall do some stupid things, but this just about tops the cake.

Our tax dollars should be going to fixing the problems in town instead of padding the pockets of some developer.

Good going Dana.....I'm glad I didn't vote for you.

Does this create a conflict of interest? Can the city objectively regulate the development of Park City Heights if we are a part owner in it?

5.5 million to move the slums from Prospector to our of sight. Good move Dana when there's store fronts on main that are empty, 2 buildings that are gutted to just being a shell and ugly as hell.

Funny this came out after the election. Oh wait, that was last week and and this deal was put together yesterday. But that's ok, it won't impact traffic on Kerns at all.

Go going Dana supporters...

The Park City government is clearly overstepping its boundaries. Dana if you want to be a developer quit your job and put up your own money not the Taxpayers. The PC government is there to regulate commerce and maintain infrastructure. Do the right thing Dana and back out of this commercial endeavor and stick to classic role of government.

This is bull. I don't want to hear that the city will be hiking taxes, business licenses fees or anything else.
Typical moronic city government.

I understand the need for housing employees in Park City. However, it's NOT Dana Williams who has made this a decision. The City Council votes. IF there is a tie, then the Mayor votes. Dana won by a landslide against Brad Olch. The majority of locals voted for Dana. STOP BASHING DANA! The town of Park City is growing, and yes, there are waayyy too many projects being proposed. Every citizen has the right to propose a project. Talisker promised to help with employee housing.
I am not for this housing project either, but you people have to understand the basics here.
If you haven't gone to a City Council or Planning Meeting, please do.

Blaming Dana is ignorant. Learn a bit about how things work before blasting someone...

That said. The Boyer company is hideous. I lived in Redstone for a while. They maintain their income in perpetuity on the shoulders of the residents. They force you to use "First Digital" cable. They own First Digital. First Digital offers substandard service at premium prices. They will sue you if you add a dish or run the wires through the walls.

HOA dues are over $400 at Redstone now... Affordable? I think not.

Yes, every property owner (not citizen) is allowed to propose whatever they want on their property.

However, the city (including Council - and, yes, Dana)does not have to:

a. buy into that proposed project for $5.5 million

b. Annex that property into city limits, thus allowing for higher density

c. Let developers, like Talisker, get away with not building their affordable housing within their projects in the first place.

If these kinds of things happen, it's on the mayor, city council, the voters. It's on all of us.

Boyer is slick...if you can't beat them, join them. This seems incredibly strange given the anti-development attitudes from city hall. I am sure they will run Boyer right into the ground like they've done other developers with their green initiatives and crazy planning. Maybe this is a match made in heaven. Of course, if I was a developer I would love to have PC give me $5.5 M given the tough borrowing climate we are in.

Isn't it a little ironic that combined with their other workforce housing project, Park City (excluding Talisker) is now the largest developer in the area? Will someone please remind me why I pay taxes?

Carey Gross,
I have been to Council meetings and they are disgusting. What happens is that there is a resolution being considered. Then 100 residents speak up against it. 1 developer says its a good idea and there will be no traffic impact (ya right) and then it passes unanimously.

I have been, and they are all the same.

Dana sucks, Brad Olch sucks too. Joe Kernan sucks. Candi Erikson sucks. They all suck.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Sagittarius

It's difficult to keep your mind on what you're doing today because it keeps wandering off in all directions. There won't be much you can do about this except to be aware of it, and preferably to postpone doing anything very complicated or important until you're less distracted and absent-minded. Unfortunately, you won't get very far with it at the moment.
