i strongly suggest you and your parents research the program throughly before committing. Its important that you agree with the direction the program is going as well as the style of the coaching.

I agree with Softball Player. You should research the program, the coach and the direction of the program. But, you should do that with any school that you are considering for college. I don't know the PJC Coach. I think he was new last year. I followed a little last year. If I am not mistaken, I think they won a lot of games last year.

the pjc softball coach's name is corey lyon. he was new last year, but he did a really good job with the team he inherited. this year he has molded the team with the type of players he likes his team to have and they should be even more successful this year than they were last year (i think they were something like 45-13 last year and made it all the way to the championship game of the conference tournament)

it all seems to be heading toward a good direction but you should still do your research by calling up the coach and meeting him and some players, looking at some other info, etc.

I will add my extra 2 cents, for whatever it is worth. I think you should make sure you don't rush into a decision based strongly on a "coaches" winning stats. you need to look at things beyond that like: is the coach someone who can motivate and inspire you? Is the coach verbally abusive to players? is the coach more concerned about his own personal image than the image of his team? these are things you need to keep in mind when choosing and committing to a program

Sounds like this may be a problem with all the PJC Coaches. I played baseball at PJC and that describes the Baseball Coach to a "T".

I played at PJC also.did you play for the current coach or the coach before? there's a big difference between the two.

i didn't want to come on here and bash anyone, but its hard to get "real" information. Of course representatives from the softball program of pjc are going to tell me the program is great, but me and my family are hesitant because we have heard things that are disturbing regarding the behavior and attitude of the new softball coach. I am just wanting to know if the saying is true: where theres smoke there must be fire.

I do know one thing Mr.Jack one of the asst. coaches is a great guy.

If you are interested in PJC, maybe you should just contact the Coach and find out for yourself. Making your decision based on anyone else's opinion is pretty childish. No matter where you go, there will always be people that don't agree with everything a coach does. It is very easy to blame the Coach if one doesnt get the results they wanted. I am sure that for every "Disturbing" thing you heard, there is probably someone that would go to the end of the world for him. There will be those that love the Coach and those that hate the Coach. Check out PJC's roster, there are 5 girls that followed the Coach from Kansas. He must not be too bad.

Yes last year was a great year, and Coach Lyons was a lucky man to walk into such a great team. From what I've heard, there are only 2 or 3 players from the team last year that came back, and some quit after the year started. Really makes you wonder how good the coach is, doesnt it? I think the key to success with Coach is how well you kiss his ass.

Yeah, for the first time in history Carl Albert beat PJC in the first game 13 to 9. PJC won 3 to 5 in the 2nd

yes, i agree check into the coach, cause you never know what you are getting in to. Talk to former players or current players that is really the only way to find out what you need to know. From what i hear, its just like high school ball, all about politics, and who are the coaches favorites. But its an important choice so check your sources.

I just heard some disturbing news today concerning the team.
there catcher from last season has quit and another local player is thinking about quiting.

I'm not really sure what the problem is, but my understanding is there will be a meeting with the President.

Again this is just here say.
