A bill making it's way through Congress that makes illegals legal after they have been in the country 24 hours by giving them PERMANENT temporary visas. We pay for their education, their children get higher ranking than Americans for college purposes, they don't have to pay back taxes or pay taxes for 9 years but they get the "earned income credit" on tax returns.

They have 9 years to learn English and they are cutting the border fence money by 80%....democrats buying votes.

I like that they have to learn English...what's the punishment if they don't?

Also, do you have a number for this bill? I'd like to give it a read.

I think we should round up all the illegals (law breakers) and send them back home. If you are not here legally, we don't want you.

Honestly, they're only taking advantage of a very broken system. If you were born and raised in a miserable hot slum in Mexico, wouldn't you want to do the same? They see relatives that have done it, they money they have, the money they can send home. Houses, cars, televisions. Why would anyone turn down that opportunity? How can we blame them?

Anyone illegal who has a job should be allowed to stay. They contribute to our society. Send the criminals back. Send the freeloaders back. But I can't in good faith kick out someone who is working hard for their self and their family. Have we no humanity or compassion?

The debate should not be about humanity, compassion, if they are good workers, if they are good individuals and/or if you can understand why they come to America to work. In my experience/opinion Hispanics are hard working, have strong family values, honest and have strong religious beliefs. They fill jobs many Americans don't want and most employers would rather hire them as they are in general better workers.

However, they are a burden on our society. SS & Medicaid is withheld from their checks but they do not pay Income Tax and Property Tax. They receive free medical care at emergency rooms and hospitals paid for with your tax dollars, they receive free education paid for with your tax dollars, they enjoy the benefits of our Social Services paid for with your tax dollars. Then there is the crime element which is a part of the uncontrolled illegal population.

There are avenues to enter America and they should be enforced. Why should it be the responsibility of American Citizens to pay for the immigration of Hispanics when in fact the beneficiary is the Hispanic and not the American Citizen. Becoming an American Citizen is a privilege not a right.

If you want to only base the debate on humanity and compassion then we should unconditionally open our borders to all oppressed people in the world and I doubt you would want that.

[QUOTE "But I can't in good faith kick out someone who is working hard for their self and their family. Have we no humanity or compassion?[/QUOTE]

I have become friends with some illegal families from Mexico. They are very hard workers and very caring for their families and friends. I have watched their hardships, and the fact that they never give up when things are tough, because it's much harder in Mexico. It would be impossible for me to say they should leave, but the criminals? Adios.

I'm not sure about around Paris, but I know for sure there are some in Roxton. I've called in on them, but they are still there. Next step - tie them up and bring em in?

I don't disagree with anything you've written here. Especially that being a citizen is a privilege.

If only someone our own naturally born understood that as well.

Story is not current. I saw the news ticker at the bottom of the screen refer to "Attorney General Alberto Gonzales" so this can't be from the current Congress.

Do you work? I ask because if you don't work and get pregnant, this joker doesn't HAVE to pay you one red cent in child support when you part. Isn't that peachy? Because he's illeagal, the law can't enforce the same law on him that's forced on American fathers.
You could marry him and make him legal, ya' know.

Yes, I agree with you. But the process seems to be impossible once they are here. As I was willing to sponsor them, at one point I contacted INS in Dallas to see what process we should go thru to get their green card. They immediately wanted to know my name and the names of the people I was calling about. Their reply was they had to return to Mexico, apply for re-entry and begin the process in Mexico. So-that didn't happen.

Yes, they may work hard to start with, but look where they came from. America will be in the same shape as their piss poor country they came from in a few years. Some people can't see the forest for the trees. These same type people gave us Obamo(Hussian). Think about it ,use common sense if you have any!!!!!!

That's how it's done. You do it legally from your "home" country. I'm all for immigration, that's what the US has always been about, because we feel we do offer a better life her. But I only support it when done in the proper, legal way.
