No, it sounds like someone that got their feelings hurt when they were a lil boy so now they are going to just be mean to everyone. Awwwww somebody give him a hug.. As far as starting this argument about the bible, Im a christian, not perfect , just forgiven by one that is and Im not going to argue with you or start quoting bible verses. You can take any book and twist it to say and mean anything you want it to.However if you take the manuscript in its entirety and try to discern what the author issaying then you have a good chance of understanding the real value of the manuscript in question.
In this case we are talking about the bible and as I said Im not going to argue but I will say that my understanding of the bible is in certain periods of history , yes slaves were kept due mainly to war I think. I am no great authority so I could be wrong but I dont believe God has ever condoned the abuse of one human by another.
I know things were brutal in the old testament but those were brutal times for everyone.
I dont think your going to find any christian that believes the bible gives them the right to abuse another in these times either so really this is all a mute discussion.
Jim I hope you have a great week.

Theres no reason to argue. The bible condones everything I mentioned. Its very clear. The bible teaches hatred toward gay people. In fact, it says they need to be killed. Women are to be treated as unequal to men. Lot and his daughters had sex. The list goes on and on.

There is a reason to argue. The Old Testament is how it was before Christ. There are many stories as given as accounts by many authors, and the rules that were in place then.

It's pretty interesting to know that some of the same things happened then as they do now.

The New Testament was the set of rules after Jesus was given. The justice system was crooked and as authoritarian is it could be, not allowing an innocent man a just trial.

By your reasoning I can ascertain that because the newspaper documented a robbery and a rape, then they condone robbing and raping. Thanks for the angle, lil colored girl!

The Bible - a compilation of several books - does not condone those things.

But, I believe it is in Isaiah that it is recorded that God said He creates everything . He said I create evil.

I am guessing He means He created Satan and the fallen angels.
Nevertheless, Those are things that happened before Christ .

We do not know the reasons for this, but, we do know that God knows best and He loves us and it is not His wish that any should perish.

I have struggled to understand the verse that says God said " I create Evil". Maybe a theologian can answer it. Whatever the meaning, I trust God and know He loves me.

Another verse I have struggled with is in The Lord's Prayer. I don't understand the " Lead us not into temptation".

This is all to say that God's ways are not always evident to us humans .

I know Jim Crow and Atheist and Nobody Gets It are going to pounce on the above posts with a Gotcha attitude. But, whatever they have to say is meaningless because they don't believe the Bible anyway.
So, Hop to it, you three. Give it your best shot. lol

...You are reading the Old Testament~ Before Jesus died for our sins and so on. The New Testament: God speaks of kindness, love, respect and Oh ya WHAT WAS THE FLOOD FOR? I think I can say God WAS NOT happy with the people's action, and you sound like you are saying God gave them an ATTA BOY with a pat on the back. Your, logic is incorrect in my way if thinking, I am just tring to help you find understanding, I do not want to come across rude. If you would like me to post some scriptures for you I can, if they wiil help you. I am not a Mayor Super Star when it comes to the bible but I do have alot of usefull knowledge.

This is absolute nonsense, and shows your ignorance. Before you spout off about the Bible, you may want to take a few years to read and study it.

Your understanding is as skewed as your biases are. You either know that's not the way the Bible reads or you're just not smart enough to hold this conversation about this topic.

The words you cite "I create evil" aren't familiar to me. Where are they found?
As to the phrase, "lead us not into temptation" I've heard it explained to mean to keep us from going into temptation. The vernacular of the days of King James was so very different than ours. However, it could be a word or way in the original text.
It would be a good study, I think.

You're wise to trust God, and in time He can and will reveal these things if you really want to learn. He has for me. Sometimes it's like a light bulb going on.

...I am most likey to wrong person to try and explain these things to you but I will try my best with what understanding I have, I maybe wrong in your opipion and that is OK, Jesus loves, God loves. I will get to your question in a momment, it is my understanding that the Bilbe is writtn in many parables,(ie) Jonah and the Whale, The Man thrown into the Lion's Den, God riding in on a white horse, The snake who convienced Eve to eat the apple and the list goes on, these are only my thought's, again if you disagree that is Ok, I do understand, no one person is the same and I do not expect every person to think as I do. Back to the subject at hand your question; It is simple, humans are not perfect so they are asking that they not be tempted by the sins we face on earth, there were sins back then aswell as their are today, people still pray The Lords Prayer and I do not assume they think God will lead them into tempation.

It's good to struggle, it's when you stop struggling that something's wrong. You've either slid back or stopped caring.

I wasn't struggling with my faith, Just struggling to understand the meaning. But, you are correct. It's when people stop caring that gets them into trouble. Both spiritually and emotiionally. And physically as well.:)

The bible is a total package. If you want to throw out the old testement, you have to throw out the 10 commandments.

Daily Horoscope for May 25

Aries

Your emotions have the upper hand, making you rather fiery and fervent. That's great if you're hoping for a passionate encounter with you-know-who, because you'll be really hot stuff. However, in non-sexual situations you could become somewhat tempestuous and irritable, especially if you suspect that things aren't going the way you want.
