Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? 20 Remember the word that I said to you:‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. John 15:20 (ESV) Matthew 16:24-26 (ESV) I have my doubts that Jesus ever existed... even if he did he was just a man who happened to get the attention of a few people or maybe he did a few magic tricks and some people thought he was special, but more likely he was a con man and nothing more.

That is amusing. There are many who say that Jesus existed but was not the Messiah (i.e. Muslims). But I rarely hear of anyone who says that He did not exist. Can you prove to me that Socrates or Plato existed? The Historicity of Jesus: http://www.conservapedia.com/Historicity_of_J...

tunart wrote: I dont know about you but I have got to vent!!! I am so tired of these people who go to church every time the doors are open and preach about being a Chrsitian and then treat people with no respect and talk crap about everyone they know (or dont know). I was raised in the church and I have my own beliefs and I have visited many churches around here and have met some wonderful people. People who represent the Christian people with grace and dignity. That being said I have also been invited to certain churches and did not except the invitation because of certain people that attend that church. I have been around these "christians" due to work or other surroundings and listened to them talk about every person that goes to their church,,,,ie: what they wore to church, who they sat with at church, what they "heard" they did when they werent at church. They act like they are above reproach and they are better than anyone else in the world. We all know that no one is perfect. A certain woman I am acquainted with because of family ties (unforunately) is the worse! She attends church regularly but outside of that building she is the most rude, judgmental, two faced, hypocrite. She met her current husband by having an affair (and he is the part time preacher at their church) and has had multiple affairs since being married to him. Her own family has made this comment on several occasions. I know lots of people who work with her and they are always talking about what a potty mouth she has and how she talks explicitly about her sex life IN Detail, yet she is constanly sitting around judging everyone else. ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE ME! All I am saying is if she is an example of the people who call themselves Christians then...... I know there are some very good people who attend their church and I dont want to take anything away from them. This woman is just an example of the ones I am referring to. Sitting in that building every Sunday doesnt make you any better of a Christian that parking a ford truck in your garage makes it a corvette if you are not living right! I am just so tired of these people hiding behind their religion! Your post is very judgmental.

UM..I thought the subject was hypocrisy? All I can say is, if all you encounter is hypocrisy...then maybe you need to find another church...other friends, or change the channel. It doesn't make sense to do what you're doing. Is it true that religion is a lucrative business? Certainly. I have to say in most cases it is; there are however exceptions. Even some of my used to be favorites are gagging me with their sales pitches. My advice? Find a preacher that doesn't depend on his flock for his livelihood or have a "board" to whom he must answer. He will be less likely to suck up to the affluent. Find one whose preaching makes you uncomfortable. You'll think about it. Most of all, find one who preaches what's in the Bible, and not what he thinks. Above all, take your eyes off everyone else and worry about your own walk. Its a full time job. There's a church in every corner. Surely you can find one like this.

My ex appeared to be a model Christian. Christian college education, Sunday school teacher, mission trip leader, lead communion often, directed Christmas plays, etc and all while having an affair with a married catholic from Paris. I don't believe I'll ever be able to look at other Christians the same even though I am one. Truth is we are all failures and god does forgive if we repent, our failures affect all those around us in varying degrees we just don't get to choose the degree to which our sin affects others or ourselves. There is simply consequences to our sin and a worthless witness to the world is just one of them.

I have to agree if your going to choose a religion, then you should work on following the guidlines that are set for you from that belief. Is everyone perfect? "no" but it is one thing to sin or make mistakes a few times but after that how many times can you say sorry? Mistakes are made to learn from. If you think going to church every Sunday is going to save you think again, you have to make it a way of life and treat others how you want to be treated because when it comes back around don't sit there and bitch because you were wronged.

Answer you did not want wrote: As an atheist... I am glad I don't get caught up in all this religious BS. My life is so much easier since I decided there was no God and I did that 50 years ago... and have never looked back. I hope you change your mind before the rapture. Otherwise, you will be begging for God's forgiveness while you're suffering during the 7 years of tribulation. Those 7 years will be a breeze compared to burning in HELL for eternity. If you're an athiest why are you reading posts about Christians?

I am reading post about Christians (because I can) and because I keep thinking someone will post something new. It won't change my mind but I still want to know what they think and why they have to believe in a God. So far I read nothing new.

There is a pentecostal church here in Paris that really is a gossip factory. The pastors wife is condoning adultery and she has also gone to a local business in town acting like a wild woman and going off on this girl. She has her sons ex living with her telling him he need to divorce his wife. The lady actually filed a police report against her. They believe rumors that they hear about people. Is this anyway for a pastors wife to act and she calls herself a Christian......
