No matter what is done about this situation, everyone will not be satisfied. If limitations are placed on the PPD - the first time someone needs them in an emergency and they arrive too late, the people who need them will complain they didn't get there fast enough.

Likewise, if no limitations are placed on them, then people will continue to complain they are driving too fast. So, it seems that no matter what is done, it will not solve the problem, it will just create another one.

My thought is just leave it be. It is what it is and there are times the police (everywhere) have to drive fast, and we the public don't know what they are responding to. People see them doing things and without knowing the facts, generate their own ideas and then automatically assume the worst.

Unless you're the one in that patrol car, you have no right to judge anything if you don't know the facts first hand.

Well the only issue with that watcher would be fear or retaliation. Not even saying the PPD would do such a thing. HOWEVER it would be a general concern. Anyone else have any ideas?
Oh, please! So nobody wants to back up their complaints with a public statement?! Well, you could at least talk to your commissioners and the mayor and tell them what you think. I know they all want to protect the public (and their jobs) enough to at least look into the matter. What is wrong with everybody? Are you really afraid that if you complain about the police you'll set yourself up for retaliation? Have we become so dependent on these computers that we've lost our voices? Holy Hell!!!

Simpleman , watcher does have a point. Myabe I am ignorent of the fact.. However why not mention this to the mayor or comissioners? Would that be the best channels of communication? I feel at this point enough concern has been established , so the next step would be who to take it to?

I have been sitting at the stop light in front of the middle school and have seen them turn on their lights and blow throught the light and go up the f**king hill to mc donalds. They are a f**king joke anyway. They will call out the swat team on a car full of kids smoking a joint or someone who ran a stop sign. But they wont fuck with the crack dealing f**kers over in brown town. they act like it would be hard to find the sh*t even though just about every brotha walking down the street in that area has the shit on them
I don't want my kids sitting in a car smoking a joint, do you?

Go down to court and compare the cases of joints versus crackpipes....

You woudln't have to go to a meeting. Just address your concerns to the city commissioners. If enough people feel like it is a problem, it will be checked.

And while we're on this or any other topic, could we please clean up the language? I know we're all adults, and an occasional emphatic curse doesn't bother anybody, but things have gotten out of hand. Surely we can have conversations without so much colorful language, please.

At least they are not crashing into each other like in the past. That is an improvement!
If you don’t want the Paris cops running over your kids, move to Lexington!

This is one of the silliest posts i've ever seen. They are doing their jobs to the best of their ability and yes they need to speed, thats what emergency vehicles do. LOL. Goodness! Maybe the person who started this post should've realized living on main street in any city is a high risk area. Take your kid to the park or move. LOL

Fonz, does not matter what street it is. You would not be saying that if you were a parent and had a vehicle come flying up behind you at a high rate of speed, you need to get out of their way but there is no room or time. Is it worth the risk to you and your family?

Well although I hate to revive this thread, the same issue seems to be coming back up again. On a regular basis you can watch the local law enforcement and state enforcement flying at a high rate of speed up and down main st. However in several instances at night … they do not even have their lights on! They seem to be on 10 min shifts of 60 plus miles an hour rolling in pairs up and down main st from one end to the other. Now I understand we have issues in Paris with drugs etc.. and I am a huge supporter of our local and state dept. However…. This is a danger to the public and is getting worse.

Go to the commission meetings or call the chief of police to voice your complaints instead of voicing them on here. Voicing them on here does you no good!!

If I'm in trouble and need them and it is an emergency I want them there as fast as they can if they have their lights and siren on get the hell out of there way, I feel sorry for our ppd it doesn't matter what they do someone has to bitch about it why don't you try doing their job dealing with the same idiots all the time for the same shit I would be a ass to most of the time.
