How appropriate...right across the street from the welcome park. Makes me want to take my family there.

Until the trash (gansters, druggies) is cleaned up SP will never be a town that tourists will want to visit and good families will want to move to. Maybe this incident will boost the crime numbers enough so that the city will allocate proper police coverage for an area that is crying for help.

The gangbangers ruin everything life has to offer. The should go back to their own county and just kill each other. Enough is enough already!!!!!!!!!!No sympathy here, as you can see.

I would much rather have money going to increase police presence than that useless welcome park that serves no purpose other than highlight how trashy the surrounding areas and businesses are.

I say they raze all of the Rancho San Pedro housing projects and start over. Put in high end shops, and eateries and that should clear the negative elements away. Like I have said before, From 5th and Pacific all the way down to 1st and Harbor just tear it down and start over. Call it a mulligan like in golf

Every white family has at least one druggie. We have some great Mexican and white families who own homes between 5th and Pacific. Yes, the projects are sitting on some prime land. I think we should raze them, give the residents section 8 so they can live where they want to and make a better life for their children.

We open up a new Police Facility with 40 fewer cops then when it was planned. Thank Janice Hahn for that. We have a problem is San Pedro and Wilmington and Harbor City....it is our councilwoman. Hahn has traded our safety for the Police Chief's endorsement to cover-up her gang scandal and remain silent about the Harbor Area having 40 cops RE-ASSIGNED out of the division to other areas where the chief needs them. All this while the City hires over 1000 new officers. How is that possible, the city gets 1000 and CD15 losses 40. Janice Hahn is never silent about anything, so why is she not screaming about the loss of cops in the Harbor. That is the price SHE is willing to pay for OUR safety. Pathetic, Recall this self promoting Fraud.

Janice Hahn is a weak advocate for our community safety. During Hahn’s time in office we have lost over 30 officers from our Harbor Division. Yet, the City of Los Angeles has added almost 1000 new police officers to the force. Hahn never mentions this or publicly request more police for our area. Is this why she has the endorsement of Chief Bratton? Is that the cost of political friendship? Is she selling our safety for political endorsements? Why would a Chief of Police back someone who is so weak on crime? Someone who was involved in a gang scandal? Ms. Hahn’s actions in Watts Gang Scandal prompted the mayor to take control of all gang prevention funds in the city and abort many of the programs that were benefiting the Harbor Area. Her mismanagement and wasteful use of gang preventions funds has done more to hurt our area than the gangs themselves. She has caused good people to be taken off the street and out of their jobs. How many lives has that cost our community? How much crime as that added to our community?

What really needs to be done is to tear down the ghettos of SP and rebuild it like everything else above Gaffey AND make it just as pricey as above Gaffey all the way down to the waterfront so that the druggies and low lifes can't afford to come and live into this town. Sometimes I wonder why SP can't be as beautiful as downtown San Diego (especially down at their waterfront). If they can have nice shops, nice apartments/lofts near a beautiful port, why can't we??? And they're even closer to Mexco than we are!
