Pit bull mauls animal control officer

It sounds like the owner was breeding those dogs for fighting. If that be the case, those dogs would never make good companion dogs, they were do doubt receiving the same training.

That's ridiculous. The officer was trespassing ont he dog's territory, the dog could sense tension, so yeah, it will act out (I'm not stating it was a pitbull as most bully breed dogs are confused for pitbulls). And why are the other dogs being euthanized? Maybe the owners should be euth'd instead.

While any animal that draws breath can bite,and it is true that more small breeds tend to bite, there is a BIG! difference between the bite of a pomeranian and the bite from a dog whos' jaw muscles are designed to clamp down and render the most damage. Pits and Pit type breeds are all bred with these jaws. Until such time as humans begin to evolve into responsible, intellegent beings, you are always going to have animals like this who are bred to be "Macho" extensions of someones mega ego. Because of that type of irresponsible breeding, none of the more aggressive type dogs (Pits, Rots, Preso Canarios, etc.) can ever be trusted, except with experts who kinow how to handle them. These are hot-button dogs who can become fatally agressive very quickly, and this usually occurs by the time they reach 18 months.

can anyone let us know if the lightfoots still let their chow dogs roam all over the place.

I am an avid animal lover; however, I see no reason to keep the larger agressive type dogs for pets. I believe this is a "macho" type of thing by the owners.

With all of the survelliance equipment available today a guard dog is no longer necessary.

A guard dog can be put down with a bullet by an intruder anyway.

A tv news mentioned the owner gave permission to take all the dogs away, the owner (looked like elder polite lady, there is no way she can handle pits, she not strong enough) The catcher looked bitten but not a hamburger mauling. Diane Whipple was killed and bled to death by "BANE" (50-100 bites ?) in S.F. yrs ago.

My dumb arse neighbor has an always barking, dangerous pit. I'd like to shoot it. They should all be shot and their carcasses burned.

Put all pit bull owners down. Ok.

get rid of all pit bulls. they are a very dangerous breed and the owners should be held liable and go to jail..

You test rabies with a rabies titre test. Not decapitation.

Good morn. I glad to hear the head is not chopped off. Thinking about the tv interview, I now feel the city may not have a case for costs incurred. When the dog officer discussed the issue with the lady. He gave instructions to her,She complied At this point, he was in command therefore under his control . He entered the back yard (5 loose pits) he made decisions which were bad. He could have taken common sense precautions (sorry Rocky you may not get a dime) The dog arrests escalated. It could have been worst if all the dogs join in. There are no winners, I'm glad he will recover. My ire is , it did not have to happen, were are suppose to be smart humans.

I am a pit bull owner and she is the most loving dog ever, would not hurt a fly, great all around dog, You dont no what your talking about! Its how you raise a dog

With the advances in technology no doubt there will be a breakthrough and invent a portable dog translation cap or helmet, at that point we can have a running conversation. We could ask if he/she intends to bite ? But this creates another problem, The may be a liar. Until that time, its best keep the killing dogs away from docile happy dogs and people who fear them. If you allow your pit (and related) to cause someone to run,trip,fall,run into traffic You may be liable due to your negligence.

Animals are considered property, the sign all her property over to the govt. I feel the same. the innocent ones should been held pending some higher decision . Too quick ,fueled by emotion.

Why does anyone need 6 pitbulls?

You Pit Bull lovers need to research the breed. When the breed was invented so to speak, they were bred strictly for fighting. That is what the intent was when they started and that is what they got and what we still have. Lieing just beneath the skin is a brain that at any moment can snap into fight mode. That is what they are suppose to do. That has not and never will be bred out of them.
