Montebello to monitor intersections

“Our goal is to make Montebello's intersections the safest in the U.S.”

The city will soon be monitoring three additional intersections, and running a red light could cost almost $400. With cameras already monitoring three city intersections, officials see the program as a way to ... via San Gabriel Valley Tribune

I know which city I will never visit or drive through. Even if I really need gas or need something to eat. I don't want to have to worry if some of these traffic cameras ehr um malfunction all of a sudden.

Just another scam to bleed the nice citizens of Montebello out of there hard earned cash. These Camera lights have only proven to cause more Accidents than do good. In fact they took them out once at Montebello Blvd & Beverly. And now there being reinstalled. Whats the matter, the City not making enough money Already?

I was in Montebello visiting my mother. I live in Colorado and she called me the other day frantic that she got a ticket the last day i was there. Well i borrowed her car to go visit my grandfathers and uncle's graves. Anyways, I was at the intersection where paramount ends at montebello blvd. There are 4 lanes 2 lanes to make a left to the mall and two lanes to go south on montebello blvd I was on one of the lanes to go south the light turn red to go left but the arrow to go right turn GREEN. GREEN means go so I went right on the GREEN right arrow and I got a ticket. WOW!! That's all I can say. Now I can't get through to speak with anyone to see what I need to do since I do not live in Montebello and it was not my mother driving her car that day. What do I do?

I try to avoid all these areas where the cameras are. Adriana, on the ticket your mom got, isn't there something where she can check off that she's not the one driving the car? I got one of those tickets a while back while driving in East L.A. On Atlantic and Whittier Blvds. I believe there was something on there like that. Find not, keep calling.

This goes to show you how stupid and LAZY the city of Montebello can be.

They are doing this for the money! They are going to get about $156 per ticket.

This is becoming a standard for all cites, I've noticed quite a few cites now have camera's at their intersections.

The excuse here is you can't fight a camera ticket! The cities want you to pay the $390.00 ticket and shut up.

I guess its time to start voting out all these useless jackass's out of office!

They have nothing better to do then punish the good people of the city of Montebello.

It's all about the money and everyone knows it, when these politicians say it's to for public safety it's a bunch of crock. Municipalities are so heart up for money they'll do anything to bring in revenue including selling a public safety ploy. The funny thing is some people actually fall for this crap.

I live in Montebello.$384.00 ticket is extortion. Prop A did not pass in this town because we know that Molinari will waste it.

We just kicked out Siccama as if he where the problem, and Lopez needed to go real bad. Maybe Molinari should think about getting people near olympic a quiet zone for the loud train that wakes people up at 3 am instead of picking our pockets.

It's time for change in Montebello. Out with the redlight cameras! Redflex's usual rouse is a 5 year contract with a city where if the redlight camera does not generate enough income to cover the $6k/mo rent on these cash cows, than the city does not pay. It's illegal though:

http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d11/vc21455_...
(g)(1) A contract between a governmental agency and a manufacturer or supplier of automated enforcement equipment may not include provision for the payment or compensation to the manufacturer or supplier based on the number of citations generated, or as a percentage of the revenue generated, as a result of the use of the equipment authorized under this section.

Why do we pay for a city counsel that sells us out like this? Out!

Adriana you don’t have to do a thing. When your mom receives the ticket it will show your face and not your moms, the picture has to clearly show your moms face since she’s the registered owner, if she goes to court she will win. Make sure that when you receive the ticket that it has a court address, if it doesn’t ignore it. Check out this site, hope it helps.

Folks: Get a GRIP!

Do you know the number of registered voters who came out to recall Bagwell, Lopez-Reid and Sicama and to vote when their term limits ended were the HIGHEST for Montebello in ANY, I repeat, ANY midterm election. That says allot about how angry voters were.

Anybody can come here to "mouth off", not everyone can or does vote.

So next time, save all your passion and put into voting--IT WORKS!

Half the people that voted didn't even have any idea what was going on in Montebello. It was all the untruth that was printed on the flyer's that were sent out. Down right lies about the 3 that were in there.

blogger "montebello senior": <-------must be having a "senior" moment if all you can reply to my post is being a "spelling bee", instead of sticking to the "real issues" on why 3 of your former city council members were "BOOTED OUT" and "VOTED OUT". Now, you are calling your fellow neighbors "stupid and ill informed"???

tsk tsk tsk senior, sounds like "sour grapes" to me. lol

p.s. I can register on TOPIX as any city I want, and then blog where I want, ok with you?

A few months ago they changed the left turn traffic signal on Montebello when you make a left onto Paramount to stay Red all the time. It used to stay green all the time because the majority of the cars that drive through there are making a left turn. Why can’t they just make it a yield on green? Who can you contact to complain? The yellow light is too short of a time. They sure are making a lot of money in this intersection; I personally have seen a rear end collision that was pretty bad. Make the city at fault for causing these accidents. Putting the public at risk for a few measly dollars and making big companies like Redflix rich is wrong. But how do you stop it? Can we put this in the ballot for next election? Don’t know.

BEWARE i got a ticket for not making a FULL stop before making a right turn. The ticket is going to cost me $435! That is crazy! I tried to fight it but when i went to the police station they actually showed me a video of me at the intersection. So i have no way of getting out of it now. Iam a college student that cannot afford to pay this much money in such short of time. I guess i wont be able to take summer school but atleast Montebello will have its money to build more senior citizen housing.

There were a lot of lies sent out on flyer's that went out to the voters. These 3 that lost were not trying to do harm to Montebello. They were in fact looking into the expenses and perks that had been going on for years. Some that have power did not like this it meant bringing up all the money that was being made that was dishonest. Montebello has been run by the wrong people for years. They were trying to do good the things that were good no one ever heard about that. That is all I have to say. I did not call my neighbors stupid. Being mis-informed has nothing to do with being stupid.
