Does anyone know firsthand if this place is any good? Or is it just another way of getting people's money saying they are helping a child? Any info would be helpful. I know nothing about this place right now. Trying to look it up on the internet was not very helpful.

you should go to the pocahontas forum and ask this.... My husband lived in pocahontas all his life and he said he wouldn't send a child there at all that it all comes down to child labor, but in other ways they do have alot of stuff there that children might like to do even if us adults might would think of it as labor..

I know personally that it is wonderful. It is amazing what they can achieve with the kids. On the comment to guest. That is unfair. The kids did not get in the behavior problems that they are in over night, nor the lack of responsibility(which is what guest is referring to, it is not the Hilton, by any means.) It is unrealistic to think that the kids can be cured over night. It so there would be no crimes, no teenager in jail, nor any future problems down the road. They are taken there because they are either court ordered or the parent or guardian is beyond wits end. Only to critize the place that you want to be on your side helping you. What sense does make? We have a major crisis with the kids of this decade and the next to come, and we need to open our eyes and minds, and not so much our mouths.

Amen! I have seen kids turn their lives around after going there. It is a last resort for many. They need to understand that the "real world" will not tolerate their behaviors. If they don't like the Lord's Ranch....then they seriously need to fix their problems because jail is no walk in the park either.

I have been to the Lords Ranch and visited with the young men and women.
Yes, they do have to work but I never knew work to kill anyone. They learn discipline and get a lot of love from the counselors and staff.
It is a beautiful place too. They had horses for the children to ride and take care of.
I would suggest any parent with a troubled child check this place out. You will be surprised.

Well, I know of two children that have attended this facility...it was just like they were at a juvenile facility. They mandate the calls which is understandable (you are trying to teach the kids and have them understand how things could eventually end up if they are going down the wrong path)and if you call to talk to their doctor or counselor I hope it's nothing urgent.
I will say there were a few people that the kiddos were going to miss when they left...but loe and behold one night out on the town here in Paragould one of the guys was here...and he had quit. There of course are things that the kids have said about treatment...but then again, this is coming from the children that were placed there. It was not mandatory that they go...something that the parents had decided would be best for the children but towards the end of the 2nd child going it took forever for them to release him...they kept saying his medicine wasn't just right or this or that...and if felt like they were keeping him there longer than necessary. It was wishy washy. If I had to find something to involve my child in for disciplinary purposes I don't see myself taking my child here. My husband had attended a place when he was younger for behavior and two prison terms later it never did the trick for him. By the way...the kids still get into trouble to date.

A little work is good for the kids. The place does a lot of good for many children.

My son was there for 9 months. It did him some good. After the first 30 days, then the child has rights to phone conversations with family.(but they have to earn them.) They are very good there. And if you want to go and tour the facility they will let you. The new homes that they have are really nice. I do have a cousin that her daughter is there now. They also have to earn priviliges for certain houses that they get to stay in. If they choose to act out, then there is a house for them to be in with 24/7 watch, they eat, do homework, and are not allowed to leave the house.

If they are so good then why was there a huge FBI investigation???? The Washington Post is doing a huge story on that place. I wouldn't send my worst enemy there.

Yea, there was a dust-up over this crap TWO YEARS AGO. Find one recent article on anything and send it to us to read. I'm betting you can't.

I would like to know I could find this article from the Washington Post and read for myself. I was unable to pull it up. Can you give me a link. That will really bother me to know that the Ranch is supposedly having it's name trashed. But, I believe every where that God's work is being done, Satan is going to work twice as hard to destroy it. The Lord's Ranch is a Chistian based facility, and I truly honor that enough I honest am with my word enough to put my name on my post. I will not trash The Ranch, I admire every effort they do. If others do not feel that way. I am really sorry.

The article isn't printed yet. Contact the Little Rock branch of The Washington Post and ask them about it. Yes Huckabee has been brought up in the article. I answered numerous questions regarding this place. It is NOT Christian based!!! They are doing nothing to help these kids. That's why the have contracts with juvenile offices all over the US even Alaska. The juvenile offices refer tons of kids to go there. My son spent 9 months there. He was beaten and forced to pray against his will. That is wrong.

I don't believe he was beaten. The people there would never beat those kids.
