Yesterday, I was listening to Lars Larson on the way home from work. A caller said if the President was really interested in the Olympics, he should join the Kenyan running team, since he was from that country. Larson replied in the affirmative and they went on with even more offensive crap. I think the modern Republican party should go ahead and be racist and stupid. Take pride in wearing you NASCAR apparel! Blast that horrible Lee Greenwood song from your SUV's! Do not bother wiping the Spam from your chin! The rest of us want to know who you are.

They don't know Democracy either. Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) has come out in support of the military coup in Honduras, chastising President Obama in a statement for what he calls "a slap in the face to the people" of that country. From his statement: "The people of Honduras have struggled too long to have their hard-won democracy stolen from them by a Chavez-style dictator. The Honduran Congress, the Honduran Supreme Court, and the Honduran military have acted in accordance to the Honduran constitution and the rule of law.[...] "I am hopeful that as President Obama grows in office, he will eventually turn away from despots like Ahmadinejad, Chavez, Castro, and Zelaya, and give the United States' full-throated support to the people of any country who are fighting for the same values we cherish and defend in America. The people fighting for freedom around the world, in Iran and Honduras, should never have to wonder which side America will choose between freedom and tyranny. "President Obama's call for the reinstatement of Zelaya is a slap in the face to the people of Honduras. And the resolution written by the Organization of American States tramples over the hopes and dreams of a free and democratic people. "The rule of law is working in Honduras. President Obama should not undermine the democratic institutions that guarantee freedom by forcing an illegitimate President back into power. The majority of world leaders have condemned the coup, confirmed by a resolution approved Tuesday approved by the United Nations General Assembly. President Obama is one of them. The United States will "stand on the side of democracy," Read more at: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/07/02/demi...

Sure makes you sit back and say hummmm, why? Actually, Obama's negotiation with Iran has been wildly successful. They have agree to not only full inspections, but also shipping their radio active material to the Soviet Union for processing into fuel, resulting in Iran not having enough nuclear material to build weapons. Score that a win for the President. President Obama is not "meddling" in the affairs of Honduras; he has merely refused to recognize their illegitimate government and suspended non-humanitarian aid. Meddling is what Republicans like DeMint do.

Jaime, you do a good job to show the hypocrisy of the politcal right but sadly, it matters not.
Fact and truth have no bearing on how these people think or act.
The only motivation these miscreants have comes from their childish, selfish, emotional response to losing an election that they think that they were entitled to win. It's nothing more than November sour grapes- but instead of behaving like adults and responsible citizens and accepting the results of democracy- they behave like a bunch of disgrunteled baboons.
They are the racists, and they expose themselves with their words of hatred.
It is one of the greatest shames our nation has ever had to endure.

Racism surely exists, Jaime. We can easily find many anecdotal examples of it. Unfortunately, you, our local myopic columnist, can find it only on one side of the spectrum. All you're doing is putting up a smoke-screen to hide the administration's lack of leadership and achievement on issues like the Middle East, health care, and the economy. If there's racism among a few Republicans, well, then it must be endemic in most or all Republicans, and anything they have to say about Obama should be immediately suspect. Quite the leap of logic. But a good way to eliminate dialogue if your argument had legs. Too bad that seems to be your goal - to just silence your opposition rather than to engage.
Victor Davis Hanson takes a much more reasoned, thoughtful approach in his recent piece. You should read it and you'll understand why many of us think you're just way too partisan to write thoughtfully. Here's a snippet:
"4.) Has the Right recently been more racially conscious in its attacks than has the Left?
Not really. We forget that the left-wing blogosphere savaged Michael Steele in racialist terms when he was running for the Senate from Maryland. Harry Belafonte -- to the silence of the Left -- called Secretary of State Colin Powell a house slave. No one on the Left objected to the racist cartoons, both here in the United States and abroad in the Arab world, caricaturing Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Much of the liberal hostility against Clarence Thomas suggested in thinly disguised terms that he was an unqualified beneficiary of affirmative action. The assumption is that the heartless Right is guilty of racism unless proven innocent, while the utopian, humanitarian Left could not possibly resort to racist attacks for partisan advantage. So far Barack Obama has seen less virulent opposition than what Alberto Gonzales, Condoleezza Rice, or Michael Steele faced.
5) Is racial polarization more pronounced among whites or among blacks?
Here there seems no general trend of racial animosity by any particular group. The occasional over-the-top sign at a tea party, or right-wing minor official who crosses the line, seems balanced by prominent blacks who talk in racially oriented terms. Obama himself has stereotyped whites in Pennsylvania in quasi-racist terms, and has employed banalities like "typical white person." The most prominent racist in the United States currently may well be the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the president's own former pastor, who has insulted in racist fashion whites in general, Jews, Italians, and just about everyone other than African-Americans.
When Eric Holder called his fellow citizens "cowards," his comments were understood to have been directed at white America's unwillingness to discuss race on his terms. Green-jobs czar Van Jones promiscuously threw around the terms "whites" and "white people," associating them with polluters and high-school mass murderers. Again, there seems no greater white propensity for using stereotypes. Bill Clinton, husband of the current Secretary of State, now points to a white propensity to play a racial card against President Obama; last year, Bill Clinton, husband of Obama rival Hillary Clinton, charged that candidate Obama himself had "played the race card" on him."

The way we treat each other, especially our children is our greatest shame. Outsourcing jobs to other countries and leaving Americans broke, unemployed and homeless is another great shame. Creating a spending society and not a productive society is another great shame. The political arena on both sides using all of us as a chess piece is another great shame and they do this by claiming they are for education and then don't fund it. An ignorant society is the best society for corruption to exist. Oh, do we see the results of that over the years. Racism articles sell, but after reading some of Jaime's responses tells me, he wants it both ways. Yell racism and the white people in this country must hang their heads in shame. Although history bears some of this fruit on the tree, it does not bear all the fruit Jaime's scream would like to impose.

Score that a win for the President. Right, Frank. You're aware that by your definition, Chamberlain was "wildly successful" when he secured Hitler's promise - with his signature, WOW!- never to attack Britain. This is the regime that denies the Holocaust and that has promised to bury Israel and secretly supports terrorist attacks against it. You should be a tad more cautious before leaping to your feet and applauding when Obama secures a head nod promise from A'jad.

Well, I disagree with Jaime. And I sort of resent being called a miscreant and likened to a baboon. Like many others who disagree with Jaime, I'm part black. But I can see why 100% whites wouldn't appreciate the baboon comment much either.
Anyway, thanks for proving that racism and hatred is indeed well represented by leftists as well. You done good (my baboon talk kicking in, I guess.)

Since you conceal you identity, Scholar, how in the world could anyone be accused of offering you a racial insult when you now come forward to claim that you're "part black." The people the poster was insulting were the knuckle dragging Neanderthals responsible for the kinds of comments I quoted in my column. Presumably, since they were making scurrilous racist remarks about black people, we might assume they were white folks. But, in the usual convolutions you concoct for these idle posts, you now claim to be a "part black Scholar" who has been called a baboon based on your purported racial makeup. How slimy this is, and how selectively you "reveal" who you are to score a simple-minded debating point. The "baboons" who wished for more black abortions and who howl about Kenyan birth and the rest of this foul miasma they pump into the air are being called baboons by the writer not on the basis of a racial generalization, as I assume you know well, but on the basis of their simian level of intelligence. And, with your usual slipperiness, you claim an army of "part black" folks like yourself who disagree with me. What, do you hold meetings? Is there a club--Part Black Folks Against O'Neill, chaired by the noted part black Scholar? Invite me to a meeting, why doncha? Always like a good debate with that vast right wing part black demographic.

Obama is the true racist. Obama attends a racist black church for 20 years. He attacks a white cop for doing his job just because the cop is white. He (Obama) appoints an openly racist woman to the Supreme Court. Finally, Obama belongs to the only racially segregated organization in Congress - The no-whites-allowed Congressional Black Causus. How much more racist can he be without wearing a black hood and cap and burning Satan symbols in white people's front yards?
