I am a 911 dispatcher for Garfield County (and happened to be on a day off) when I got a text from my son who was at Grand Valley High School wanting to know about the lock down. Not only was my son involved but my Mom lives just 2 blocks from where this whole incident started. I immediatly turned on my scanner to listen to my coworkers handling this incident and I have to say I work with a very professional group of people. The dispatcher handling the situation remained calm at all times and sounded very professional, never showing her stress over the air. Although I worried for the safety of all the residents of Parachute and the safety of my son at the high school, I felt very secure in hearing a great group of people over the radios, protecting the citizens of Parachute. Lets just hope this guy has clamed down, will be found and no one will be hurt.
Wow. Maybe you should've been at work!
