Why does it have to be over 2 years? You'd think he had murdered someone or molested a small child. They got their priorities mixed up somewhere. Murderers get off for much less than what they are expecting for him.

He was offered a plea bargain two weeks ago for 2 years deferred probation ..... but again he thought he was above the law and didnt accept it. Yes.... he should be held to a higher standard and two years would barely reach minimum!!!! We voted him into to office and HE abused it!!!! What do you think is fair?????

You know its amazing how many arm chair judges we have out there in cyberspace. The see something on televison and like a dog stealing a bone they pick it up and run with it..kinda sad aint it..ya know i remember not long ago the president of the USA was pokin this old gal in his office,he got found out, and three quarters of the voting public made him a folk hero. His wife found out about it and many others and stayed married to him. they got somehow mixed up in a little abuse of office at a federal level and skated through it all with no problems..Dont make no sense does it how Shumate gets criticized by all the low lifes in amarillo, when they themselves would take a few extra dollars from you no matter where it came from. Stolen goods, drugs,prostitution, no matter they would be right there if it was offered.They talk about how he was elected in good faith and he stepped out of line, yet our president gets a pat on the back...That tells you how intelligent most of the people are who take the time to write all this intelligent crap are. Folks if you werent there, and you dont know him or actually what happened, except what you heard on television, and we all know that to be gospel, right? Just keep your stupid immature, second grade comments to yourself, you dont impress any one when you make such memorable comments as he shouldnt drop the soap, or let him go meet bubba... it only shows YOUR itelligence level and the grade level you dropped out of school in. Its just pretty much comon sense to look over the years & see Shumate getting in & out of trouble of his own making. He finally got caught & now its time for justice. Unlike you Prick I don't have to steal.

You didn't miss your chance for getting political,right? I think that President you're talking about very well represents Americans. It's all about affairs, divorces,sex and drugs.As for Shumate, he should be glad he lives in the Panhandle where certain cheaters get away with crime because that's what it was-a CRIME.

Shumate's sentence was nothing. Unfortunately, there are those who get away even with murder, but there is another judge that we all have to face sooner or later.
