I am very excited about the President's visit. My only concern is that he is not totally informed regarding the poverty condition of entire DeSoto County, mainly the southwest area. There is still a lot of devastation resulting from the aftermath of Hurricane Charley and other 2004 Hurricanes. This area has not had any economic initiatives in well over 40 years. Professional residents consist of mostly teachers and service workers (prison and department of juvenile justice). This area requires funding and outside consultants to assist and improve this community. I just hope that the President gets the whole picture of DeSoto County's economy.

I am happy that a President of our country is coming to my county! I agree to some of what the other poster posted. The part I would hate to see my small town becoming a "Big City". I have lived here since '81 and I LOVE the small town where everyone HELPS each other. Also, you can walk down town and people will stop and ask about hoe you doing! When I need HELP I know who to go to and get HELP.
Arcadia is a beautiful peaceful city. I WOULD never move bk to TN. I AM HOME HERE! |
