Pirates buy Class-A team, move it to Bradenton, Fla.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have purchased the Class-A Florida State League team located in Sarasota, Fla ., and are moving it to nearby Bradenton, their longtime spring training site.

Here are some names that I think would be appropriate for the new Bradenton team:

Conquistadores: In reference to the city of Bradenton being discovered by Hernando de Soto.

Tropicals: Due to the prominence of Tropicana in the area. Personally, if this name is chosen, I would like to see the logo resemble the old Vero Beach Dodgers logo with the grapefruits.
