After drinking tequila and beer on June 28, three teens went to a downtown Palmerton pizzeria, where they met the adult friend who allegedly had bought them the bottle of liquor earlier.

I am torn in my thinking about this case, as I do believe the individuals (charged) were on a course that night for some kind of trouble, whether they would be caught stealing, drinking under age, disorderly, or something else. On the other hand, this man made a serious mistake by stopping his car and confronting this group. He would probably be alive today if he could have contained his anger and just kept driving. I'm not blaming the victim, just looking at the situation objectively. I think he had a right to be angry, I just think he should have checked that.

ALL three punks gang up on a 63 year old man. Weren't they taught any respect for human life. At 15 years of age DRUNK what wonderful parenting. Now the three punks got together to make the victim look guilty - throw them in jail and keep them in prison for life. When the 15 yr threw a piece of ice off bridge and killed a woman he got the maximum sentence; let's treat all crimals equally.

Very sad--but this reinforces the fact that in todays world--you CANNOT confront people, especially a group of people, and take the law into your own hands. The man should have stayed in his car, follwed the jerks, and called for help on his cell phone.

Sounds to me that there's LOTS of blame to go around in this incident. The teens were given liquor, which shouldn't have happened in the first place (and PLEASE, don't say all kids get drunk, that's not true). Anyhow - They go out and start messing around; and the man gets out of his car and immediately starts throwing punches. Then the teens gang up on him, three on one. If everyone involved would've acted like responsible human beings, this wouldn't have happened.

Were they charged with underage drinking too? I don't recall it saying it in the article. And if not, why not??

First of all... how many of you never went out and drank a little with your friends as teens?

Second... how can someone mistake a piece of candy for a bottle of iced tea?

Third... What in the world makes you get out of your car when you think you're being attacked by a gang of kids up to no good?

I'm not taking sides here, but it sounds like the victim made a poor decision.

i dont see three on one in this story. you guys are so blind with venegeance. higgins' car was accidently hit, and he came out swinging. what would you do? it was a freak accident, they didnt repeatedly beat the man. they tackled him as to stop his swinging and he banged his head of the cement. at 63 with a heart condition he should have been smarter... its an unfortunate incident and everyone is to blame, but to give these kids a maximum sentence would be excessive.

Hay the guy got out of his car and confronted these guys.
He should have called the cops, was his car even damaged?
The 3 were not inocent but but for the actions of the driver he would still be alive today.
This is like the snowball insidents that happen every year somebody ove reacts and someone gets hurt or dead.

every kangaroo district judge take notice....this is why police file underage drinking citations. the young cant control themselves as it is and then add booze and terrible things happen.

think long and hard about the message you send the next time you want to win a popularity contest with an attorney and dismiss a citation.
