Its A Joke

What a surprise

Since moving into this school district 3 years ago, all I've done is watch the taxes go up significantly year after year. I think the school board needs a financial advisor to consult with, because their money management skills are very poor.

I'm not exactly sure what the inflation rate is, but I believe it is higer than 2.4%. Why do people think that the cost of things does not go up for school districts? Considering how much everything has gone up, and considering the goals this board is accomplishing this year (much needed text books, additional teachers, the building program, etc.) I was surprised that they were only raising the taxes one mil.

salaries

Are salaries for all the school district employees public information? We have some amazing teachers who go above and beyond the call of duty. We also have some that are just waiting to retire and will cost the tax payers more and more in benefits as they get raises every year. The district is paying very high slaries to "more experienced" staff at the elementary level.

I agree with you and for all those who come to post negative comments about the board should maybe run for the board to see the difficult task that they have. They are trying their best to keep taxes down, but sometimes we might have to pay more in taxes for educating our children. All you hear around town is don't sell 7th street field and raise the taxes. This makes no sense. I feel that if we have to pay 1% more for educating our children, it is worth the extra money. Agreed they are looking to update the text books amongst other issues that are put forth. Stop the negative comments and run for office, maybe you can try to make an effort at keeping taxes down! I am not poking at this poster, just the ones that will read and answer! I believe that our school board is doing what is best for our district and I feel that they should keep up the great job that they are doing! "a part-time secretary, and a health room assistant who can help sick children."
Why Not have the current secretary and nurse (and guidance counselor) do some work instead of hanging in the office chit-chatting all day. If they did their own job, we wouldn't need additions. And if the nurse can't handle a "sick child", then the kid probably doesn't belong in school.

I am not criticizing the board. I am saying that it is amazing that they plan to do so many things while raising taxes only one mil. I do not always agree with thhis board, and I do plan to run for the board when I am eligible to do so, but I think they have handled this budget quite well.

OK lets have the "sick" child walk across the park. Do you understand there will be teachers who will have to walk across the park to teach a class that there are no facilities for...ie gym.

Teachers walk from the parking lot into school are you telling me they can't walk across the park that is really laziness !

Ok lets think about this.....parking lot next to school. Done before and afterschool. These teachers will be walking across during the day, instuctional time lost. Perhaps several times a day, temperature what in the 20's. Key here is lost instuctional time. Minutes count not saying anything about their fitness...just a big waste of time, money.

Each building needs to have staffing. Kids get sick during the day all the time. Accidents happen and we need nurses there to help. My kids have made their fair share of trips to the nurse and I appreciate that they are there to take care of what ever the problem is.

Try scheduling properly. Music for K-1 all in one day allows the music teacher in one school for one day. Get it?? How long does it take kids to walk from third floor to the gym? About as long as it takes to walk across the park. Complain complain. You sound like an old man.
