i feel that nurses aides and even the orderlies are not appreicated for the work and care that is given. it is one of the most stressful jobs there is , i dont advise anyone to do it unless you want to loose your job looking at them the wrong way. Innocent until proven guilty, i dont believe everyrhing i read and hear.

Don't believe anything the papers say. As a former employee for 5 years I have seen it all and what is in the papers is usually nothing like what really happened. Accidents happen but the Agency on Aging and Edna Youngster(risk manager at Gracedale) must be in bed together a and get commision on how many good employees lives they can ruin. The residents are well taken care of and the staff goes well beyond their job requirements to make the residents happy and comfortable.

i completely agree with "former NA2" as a former employee of gracedale myself i think things are starting to get out of hand...things always get blown way out of proportion..im not saying whether he did or didnt do it bc i wasnt there to have a say in it, however i do have to agree that the residents at gracedale are well taken care of and there are some damn good aides there. but its people like edna youngster(and a few others as well) that get like some kind of satisfaction of watching decent people get their lives ruined
Not only at Gracedale

Trust me...these things don't only happen at Gracedale. I used to work at Slatebelt in Bangor and got screwed because someone didn't like that I spoke my mind. The people involved later admitted that they were coerced into saying that I did what I didn't do. Luckely I didn't lose my certification, just my job. It sucks anywhere you go. Funny though...the nursing homes cry the blues because they can't get anyone to work for them, but then they get rid of the ones they do have for no reason. Sucks that they think they can mess with peoples lives that way.

no, jim man handled this poor 92 year old man and what no one knows or cares to know is that the man can get himself on and off the toilet he just needs assistance getting there, u people have absolutey no idea what really happened, and unless you hear both sides of the story i wouldnt be critisizing the work place or the elderly man

What about when the resident gets agitated and beats on the aides? does that ever get in the paper? What about the residents that cry wolf just because they dont like that certain aide? We as aides have one of the most difficult jobs and we dont get appreciated. What if the resident was attacking jim and he defended himself? So dont judge until you are put in our situations.

jim is an excellent and caring naII. It is an extremely difficult job. He is a good person; his wife is an excellent lpn. It is too bad that we as health care workers go to work with the intention of helping others in so many ways. In turn we know we may end up within the same status as a criminal, on any given day. It all boils down to who likes you and who dislikes you within the realm of your coworkers. There are some (very few) bad health care workers. These people fall between the cracks for the most part. I feel bad for what Jim is going through as well as his wife. Remember Jim, (my mother always mentioned this to me) for every finger one points at you, there are three pointing back at him. you know me sue

Ok its like this.. We as nursing home workers we go through s*** everyday. These old people are mean. They spit on us, beat us. Where the f*** is our protection. Anyone can say any thing and before you know it your sorry A** is making that one call you get in the slammer .There is 3 sides to every story. his, hers and the truth. If this girl didnt like him for some unknown reason its messed up to stretch the truth.. what goes around comes around. Someone pulled this sh** on me once and let me tell you he was fired for something he did and it had nothing to do with me. Comming to work is like walking on egg shells. You are always wondering whos going to jail today. Some head people at gracedale who think they are god make it worse. Its bull sh** and so is her job!! We all know who i am talking about!!!!Put your hand behind your back your going to jail for not putting that man on the bed pan!

I know Jim for years and he is the best aid that I ever knew. Jim was a very caring aid and did everything for the residents. If anything I would question the creditably of the witness. In that place if somebody don't like you or your last name you are dirt and they will get you. It's a crime that a eldery person has to be used to carry out this dislikes between two grown people. Jim we all love you and Hope that you will be back soon. It will be a big lost to the community and Gracedale without you.
