I am confused why it is necessary to destroy buildings that have been purposely negelected by developers. How many buildings thru the lack of maintence of the owners will be allowed to be ignored.
The Town and Country was built in 1948 and was part of the hub of the community but now because of negelect it has become an eye sore. Before the decission is made to tear it down everyone should take a trip over to see the building. The new project could turn out to be the same eye sore. Will we tear it down? Problem.......who wants to rent a run down slum of a building. Great ships are lost but buildings don't sink they crumble into poverty because of lack of maintenance. This results in the demolition of many of our buildings. "VITALITY OF A STRUCTURE IS THE VITALITY OF IT'S COMMUNITY." Why tear down a building that is really very distinctive and enique. We tear something down then build up something that is almost exactually like the building that is destroyed. Lets think about what we are doing to our community. Take a stand! Landlords and Developers that allow such wonderful buildings to crumble to dust and become the eye sore of our community need to know that if our community wants to shine we must make these people responsible for the damage that they create and that they can not destroy but maintain the integrity of these buildings and our community. |
