graffiti is a crime good or not. art is just used to enhance your graffiti. its undeniably vandalism though but under a bridge, who the funk cares

You have got to be kidding me..something they like to do as art?? Thats great! Thats why DHS has such a bad reputation. They tag the post office, restaraunts and anything else they can find here..even the schools. It looks like crap. Murals are one thing, but tagging all over public property makes DHS looks like a junkyard. Save the "art" arguement for cities that are not struggling. DHS has enough to deal with like meth, prostitution etc.

If their was such a spot like the whitewater bridge where people were ALLOWED to do graffiti it would surely drop the rate of 594.1 crimes. Most larger cities throughout the united states have such public places. I know that desert hot springs is far from a large city but, their is a high number of locals that are into the graffiti lifestyle. It's not just 20 year old kids that are doing it either, I am 27 years old and I am the youngest guy in my group of friend's that enjoys doing graffiti art.

I dunno about what 4EK is,*okay, hear me out before you shoot me down* I'm just an artist who wants to get up and show my stuff,and I'm not all that into the hype from the culture. I'm not gonna go around defacing people's property, I respect my own city way too much to do that. I read somewhere that some people in city hall were pushing for graffiti walls to be put up, but the idea was pretty much shot down. It makes me really disapointed in both the people who see graffiti as just dirty crimes,and also the people who go around bombing public property and people's houses. They are making it dificult for those of us who truly want to do our art, giving us a bad rap. The fact that these kids got arrested doing their thing in an out of the way place, where no one else but those who actually appreciate it would bother looking really pisses me off. Would people rather see our stuff covering their walls and stores? I'm not threatening to do so, but what can they really expect us to turn to?

They changed the law on graffiti....It is now a felony any time you are caught...whitch means jail..

Actually, Turok, I just applied and am going to the Pasadena Art Center on a pretty hefty little scholarship. And yeah, so what if I'm poor? At least I have the brains and the talent to get out there and do something, instead of flaming any posts that don't agree with me. yes, as your little intro says,' Don't like my opions? F*ck off!' Its that kind of disrespect that keeps this damn graffiti war going. I liken you to the people who scrawl nasty things in bathroom stalls, and then pass is off as free speach and 'mind your own buisness'. Get yourself some manners before you step into a debate, adn a little respect would be nice as well. You never know who you are dealing with.

well well well...we got a bunch of uneducated people trying to decide the fate of 11 barely legals who commited small time crimes save your jail time for fedral threats in cali we got pretty much one thing that can happen to you if you get caught a fine which is worse and shouldnt even be so expensive it puts our families in debt and hurts ourselve finnacially i know a boy in high school who just got snitched on and now he has to pay 8000 dollars in fines......poor guy lives in a small time town and winds up paying New York prices.. Heck ill clean up everyones graff in town for 8000 not just his well i mean if i wasnt into the scene myself.graff writers put their lives at risk to do things you average people only wish you had the capabilities to do even as a toy most of the writers can get heaven spots you wouldnt belive. ie: we just got our boy in the paper for getting a spot that cant be cleaned because noone wants to climb that high up. I got respect for these guys its not everyday you get in the paper just look what the press did its made these guys heros among underground culture. i may be rambling off about graff but the thing is .... nothings permanant it doenst take 20 dollars to scrape paint ive used a pressure washer to get paint off my shoes...no hassle besides there is also paint solvents that melt through paint and other products as well ..... that only cost like 5 bucks so lets see you got the effort .... 10 bucks and you got the chemicals 5 bucks and you got the time well you have your whole life full of time its up to you what you wanna do with it its obvious what im doing with it ....... peace 2 all - Gapes
