Bummer.

But how long can you cry about it when you're a millionaire, presumably insured to the hilt, and money is not a problem?

Regardless of the worth of one's home, it is considered a sanctuary with many memories and items that can not be replaced.

The police should be ashamed!!! Handcuffs were way too much. That is not a proper way to handle a distraught person. Where is their humanity? Oh wait, I forgot, its the police. Their motto, Kill first ask questions later.

The older gentlemen probably has an illness. That is no way to treat an old sick man! I hope when the police man that did this is old somebody doesn't haul him away in handcuffs.

and how do you suggest they restrain him? hold him down by force for HOURS while the firefighters continued to fight the blaze? Maybe the police should have used their super secret mind power to force him to stay back. Or maybe they should have reasoned with him, even though he was probably so distraught no amount of reason would have worked.

Have fun sitting behind your desk reading these stories, let the people that actually know what theyre doing, do what they do best.

They would have handcuffed him earlier but they needed more backup! When 10 more cops showed up they talked it over and decided they could then handle the 80 year old with the 20 police and 20 firemen now on location! While 20 cops pointed their weapons at the dangerous man the other 20 managed to get him cuffed! This morning 6 cops and 15 Firemen filed for disability because of the injuries they received trying to take this dangerous felon into custody! It is reported that 6 police and all 15 of the Firemen have already filed for early retirement because of the mental and physical abuse they received at the hands of this 80 year old beast!! A retirement parade will be held on Worth Avenue Saturday to honor these brave men and their sacrifices to the community! All 1200 Palm Beach County Firemen and 500 Police will take the day off to attend, and honor their abused and completely distraught brothers!

When you presume, you assume quite a lot. What if the old dude could not afford insurance any more? What if he bought the house 15 years ago for $350,000 and now the property apraiser says it's worth millions. Maybe that's all he's got left. Maybe the house is only a mansion in the eyes of the reporter.
Try alittle compassion there JB.

You're right they should have let the old coot run in side and burn to death. That's soooo much more humane. Think, use that noggin. That's all I ask.

First of all, I love the sensationalism in the title of this article. It made it sound like the old guy was arrested for setting the fire. You really have great taste Sentinal. Secondly, the old man had to be restrained in order to keep him out of the home, they removed him to a safer area, away from what was making him so upset, and kept an eye on him to make sure he didn't go into cardiac arrest with all the excitement. The police and firefighters did their job and they did it properly. For all of you who feel this is was excessive, try to deal with an elderly man who's just lost everything. It's not an easy situation. The further from the scene this man was, the quicker he was going to calm down.

You have no one ounce of feeling in your nastyblack heart, your comments are always sarcastic and rude towards your fellow man.

The guys was 80 which means he had a lifetime of memoriblia in that house. 80 year olds dont have alot of peers left, so the remanants of his prime are now all missing and this is the best you can come up with?

I hope the man is OK and that his heart doesn't break and that he gets quaduruple what the place is worth so he can buy a BIGGER house with a young 36D pretty vivacious nurse who indulges him and he can spend the rest of his days in peace and surrounded by beauty.

Dear Stuttererrrr,

The old guy already had his own cuffs on but they were fur-lined.

They guy was "posin'" becuase he torched his over-insured art collection.

Read the story.

You are the same type of idiot that would call for the police officer's jobs if they did not restrain him and allow him to die while trying to get inside a fully engulfed, burning house. People like you are not happy unless you are complaining about something. Get a life. Or better yet, you try doing the job of a cop or fireman and see what it is like to walk a mile in their boots. Until then, people like me would really appreciate you keeping your trap shut. Especially on issues you know nothing about.
