Might work, except for the fact that it probably violates Article IV, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution.

Sounds good to me. We ship out far more of our tax money than we get back from Tallahassee, then have to listen to the upstate hicks bellyache that their taxes are going to pay for projects down here and kill all sorts of public works programs we need in this region. I'd be fine with financing a road project in the panhandle if the panhandlers would just shut up for a change about the greater needs of this far more populous region. But since their sense of community extends only so far as some indeterminable point north of Orlando, fine, let's secede and take care of our own. When the crackers find themselves scrambling to make up out of their own pockets all the lost southern revenue on which they've been gorging for the better part of a century, perhaps we could negotiate a reunification on more egalitarian terms.

Approved! Approved! Please take the denziens of NY/NJ transplants, drug traffickers, and other assorted happy campers with you. Better yet, declare independence and become your own country. We could gate off the Turnpike and I-95 and require you to pay a customs duty. Don't like it? Take it up with the U.N.

I think we been ignor for too long is time to divide. We make the bulk of the money for the state and get nothing in return. The northern floridian don't care anything about us here in the south.

A pretty good chunk of Miami-Dade wouldn't want any part of this nor would Collier and Lee counties to our west. So the thought is we should divide ourselves because we think differently and have different needs? Look at NYC and Chicago. These cities drive their respective state politics even though the rest of the state sees things much differently. When Key West wanted to "seceed", the nation laughed. We seem to continue to give the nation fodder for amusement.

Does that mean that I will not get my federal rebates check next week? I have to buy a playstation 3.

I agree wholeheartedly. So they'd have to create another gigantic Government Bureaucracy which would necessitate HUGE tax increases! Knuckleheads!!! Tighten your belts like the rest of us do!

I don't know about two states, but a good start would be to saw it off at the Dade-Broward line and let all the third world people who live in Miami float back to wherever it is they came from. There's South Florida, then there's Miami!!
