"Publix employees say Schwartz has stolen from the store before."
Age has nothing to do with it. I shop at Publix. People who steal from the store affect the prices that I pay. I pay more so that the store can make up for stolen merchandise. They should have prosecuted the man if he is a repeat offender. I have no sympathy for him. Whatever happened to morals?

This is like Seinfeld and Uncle Leo. If he gets caught shoplifting he can always say, "I'm old. I forgot."

The publix I shop at near Kings Point in Delray regularly has old hebes being held till the cops arrive because they have put something in their pockets or coats. Its a real pleasure to see these thieves being shamelessly paraded out in front of everybody to the cop car. They will argue forever about a penny or an outdated coupon but think nothing of swiping a bottle of aspirin or a box of cookies. Serves em right...go for it Publix management

I knew there was a crime wave in Palm Beach. Thid guy must be a real danger to the community. The store cashier is just as responsible as the pie guy. Give them both 30 years in the slammer.

While shopping at Publix I was charged for 4 ears of corn when there were only 3 in the produce bag, and for 5 bagels when there were only 3 in the bagel bag. When I pointed this out to the clerk (who was more interested in talking to the young lady bagging my purchases) he took off the price of one bagel. When I called the manager to complain, I was asked to leave the store. I called the police to report the "theft" but got tired of waiting for the police to arrive, never mind the ice cream that was beginning to melt.
Better yet, remember the story years ago about the foreign student who was arrested at Publix for sampling the "grapes" to see if they were ripe!

Unbelievable that this guy was even taken in. Either he is old and forgetful or maybe just hungry. A big store like Publix prosecutes the man? They lose my business for sure

When they catch him again, don't call the police, let the stockboys take him in the cooler and give him a beat down with the hard salamis (I know what you Republicans are thinking, and I'm not talking about that kinda hard salami. Lets see if he returns to any Publix after that.

And I suppose you'll drive 5 miles @$4/gallon because they charged you 25 cents too much for something to get the price adjustment!

Are YOU on disability? Or on somebody else's dime? In order for you to see who is posting "up & down the East Coast" you have to be reading all of them. mee wrote: <quoted text> Do you work Lawdog? I see you posting on papers up and down the east coast. Must be out on a disability claim

Interesting to see how many people have written in supporting retail theft! Perhaps they could respond with how they justify this. Is it okay to steal if you're past a specific age, or if you steal less than a specific value. If so, at what age does stealing become okay, or what value item should you be allowed to steal without being charged? Perhaps we can get the AARP to lobby for the needed changes to the law.
