"John Wood's brother, Chuck Wood, set up an account to help pay for the funeral"

I'm not trying to be rude, but an earlier report said John Wood had $600,000 in a retirement account. Was that report wrong?

May these people rest in peace and may the father have god's mercy for he will face the true meaning of justice.

That is what they had in 2004 when they filed for bankruptcy. I bet they cashed that out and took the penalty for it.

If I were the family of Cynthia Wood, I would DEMAND that she be buried with her children ELSEWHERE. How dare they bury those people with the man who murdered them in cold blood.

As for Chuck setting up an account...GIVE ME A BREAK ! Liquidate their belongings and his retirement account and use THAT to pay for the funeral..and what it is has cost Seminole County.

May they rest in peace and may the family be left alone with their good memories. I truly am so sorry this happened to you, I know you are hurting as a family. Our prayers are with you and all the friends of this family.

Excellent post! How horrific that the wife and children be anywhere near this scum. If they were my family they would most definitely be placed elsewhere. This coward doesn’t deserve any sort of dignified memorial or service.

Wow he had money problems, now his brother has money problems. He should've saved for the funeral first.

So don't contribute.

I read that comment and was torn between (i) lamenting that even in death this family is taking something that it cannot afford, and (ii) wishing the rest of the family all peace in the after life, if there is one.

Since no one is asking me to pay up, I choose option (ii).

Why do they need a fund to pay for the funeral? Can't they pay for it with one of their 17 credit cards?
Maybe they can sell the house or boat to pay for it.
It's not like they need to save for a college fund! LOL
I think they can also cancel their Maid and Landscaping services!

1. Why are they even having a funeral if they can't pay for it? Just have them cremated and skip the funeral.

2. Why in God's name are they having the funeral in a Church? Mr. Wood was obviously not a religious man, and he certainly doesn't deserve a Church funeral after killing his family.

Okay, so if the world doesn't provide what you need, the "reverend's" advice is turn to the lord. This, of course, implies that we won't get what we need until we die, which in turn begs the question: "Why live?" Seems perhaps Mr. Woods tragically followed this cliched and flawed "reasoning..

Braswell said people often "turn to substance abuse to drown out the pain of a loss."

I suspected all along drugs might have played a part in this.

These posts are terrible. Who are we to judge what happened? Yes, it is a HORRIBLE tragedy, but obviously something happened to make this man snap. Only God knows - and only God can judge this man. It is not for us to judge him. Right now, we need to offer these families hope so they can come to some sort of peace with this. I choose to put it in God's hands - and let him help these families find comfort. You should all do the same so you can find some peace. What if this was your family? How would you react? Would you want these awful things said about your loved one? Don't think that it could not happen. This family certainly never saw this coming. Just let God handle it - and turn to him for hope instead of what the world has to offer. I choose to let God be in control. God bless these families.

I think the pastor had it right, no explaining or understanding will happen at this time. Just beyond human comprehension.

Sounds like they were living beyond their means, and trying to keep up with the Joneses. Maybe some of the rest of the pretned high rollers should be paying attention...... there, but for the grace of God....go lots of people living beyond their means with the help of Visa.

A funeral is not for the deceased - it is for their family(ies). I wonder how many of you posting such horribly judgemental words here claim to be a follower of the man called Jesus? No wonder so many of us choose not to listen to your Sunday words....

JD did a horrible thing, and something that anyone that know him would never in a million years think of him doing....
It's awful, and everyone is pissed that he was so selfish in his final moments....

But, you people making jokes about this with the VISA logo, etc... you are sicker than he was....

Great a clue dummy - This man, and i use that term very loosely murdered his innocent kids and wife....that makes him a coward and scum. That is a face and not up for dispute. He was a rich man who lost it all and could not face the reality of not being what his neighbors where or pretend to be.

He tool the cowards way out and his family suffered.

I would of in on way buried him with his family. He is a coward, and deserves to rot in hell for what he did! End of story.

Even if there is money in a retirement account, it will be some time before anyone can get their hands on it.

What a naive & despicable person you are. Most families don't solicit money for a funeral, especially after they have been living like millionaires.

Why not sell the house, boat, furniture, cars and/or the million dollars worth of possesions sitting in that big, fancy house? The family is soliciting funds because they are looking to profit from this ordeal. And many suckers like yourself will support them.

This family is GARBAGE and they should be disposed of like such.
