PS... Thank you Brian for help run the Heath section of the league. I know how many hours you volunteer at the ballparks to help ALL the kids of west Kentucky and Meteopolis be able to play. Please whistle at Angela for me, she is a hottie!!

@meridian.. I think I have a fine grasp on it. You don't seem to understand that the kids are in different leagues, so the kids didn't cause a problem. You don't seem to understand that the 8 kids were placed on teams. They just weren't on a Heath team, but they were placed on other teams in the league.
Your solution to the situation is to put the 8 kids on a Heath team and forget about it. This causing 3 teams that needed a couple of the 8 kids not to be able to play. Also, you want to kick metropolis out of the league causing those kids not to play.
So by following the rules that the league followed, all kids are playing but 1 that doesn't want to play for Ballard.
Your way they would have about 60 kids not playing.
I think the League planned it better.
We're just going have to agree to disagree on that. My point is this, take care of your own first. Shuttling children to another community just doesn't sit well with me. As for metropolis, the league really should review that policy/ decision. It's another city, in another county, in another state. That certainly sounds like three reasons to abandon that idea. If field scheduling is an issue, simply expand the teams inside the community, then rotate games in and out of the community. That way, now one gets left out, and everyone gets to play that wants to. I believe the original concern was traveling so far to practice, I really don't think the issue of where games are played should be an issue. Everyone should be willing to travel to a reasonable extent for games. If one child is
singled out because there is either no room for them, or they're not financially able to travel for practice 2 or 3 times a week, then there' s a problem with the system, a problem with the rules, and a problem with the so called leaders, that aren't willing to fix it. I understand games can be scheduled at any number of locations around the area and generally are, but the issue as I see it is community, and taking care of your own. Several years ago, when I was more involved, I saw how things worked. I see things that haven't changed, and the things that have changed, haven't been very good decisions.

The whole league is made up of different cities and different counties. I don't think you have a valued argument.

Meridain-

You seem very passionate about this issue. It seems to me that the best resolution is that you become more involved in HYAA: coaching, volunteering or umpiring. That way you could seek the change you desire and the HYAA could receive more valuable assistance.

Best of luck.

FINALLY! An intelligent response. Yes, doing exactly that is my plan. I'm already making plans for fall ball. A few years ago, i was very involved in the league. I expressed some concern at that time over some of the issues i've discussed here, but it fell on deaf ears. I got the same song and dance i'm getting on this thread. It was the politics that got in the way.The difference now is, there are several people currently involved in the league that sees these issues the way i do. There"s strength in numbers, so beginning this fall, we go back to work on it.And I want to thank you for rescuing this thread from the deep dark pits of ignorance

That's really unfortunate ... my son just wanted to play ball. Is that unreasonable? We are not from here, but he is a good player. Sports did not operate this way when I was a child. If you wanted to play, you played.
Well I can certainly appreciate the cost of driving to another field but unless you live right on top of the ball fields you can find another place to sign your child up. The metropolis fields aren't that far from Heath, Paducah fields aren't that far from Heath. My son had played on a team since t1 at Heath and decided late last year to play and his teams roster was full so I took him to Ballard because he wanted to play and didn't go on a website fussing about it. Sounds to me like if YOU wanted to support your child and his/her sports endeavors you would get up and do something about it. The way I saw it last year is that if Heath won't take my money someone else will be happy to...just sayin.
Huh???

<quoted text>Still another state....at least it was the last time i checked. Do you honestly not see anything wrong with what you're saying??? The FACT remains, children from another state were allowed to play, while local kids were turned away???? should it matter about their age group? i don't think so!! I'm blown away by this, and you people act as if it's...just nothing! It really stikes a funnybone with me that you people are so narrow-minded...lol...are you people serious?
So you're belittling the HYAA based on league rules, based on the names of some kids that play out there, and now based on the fact that it took in two kids from within the WKBSA league's area???

Wow. I bet you are one happy individual in reality. One thing you are overlooking here is that this league is for the kids...not us. The league doesn't recognize state or county lines. It is a league that consists of teams, coaches, parents, and Board members from many counties and two states.

My son plays ball with kids from Tilghman, Carlisle, Graves, Lyon, Heath, Lone Oak, Reidland, Ballard and yes, Metropolis. I welcome new members of his team because I view one more friend from a different location as a positive. If we decide to move to any of these places my son will have at least one friend. He will not be closed off from our local world because of closed minded people who didn't want to let anyone else play because of their zip code.

meridian4200300 the league has worked great for Many Many years!!! If you think you can come in, make your stupid changed and save the day, you are wrong. Rules are Rules, they work, and the parents are happy. Out of ALL the kids in ALL the area's we were not able to make 2 happy, 2!!!! do you understand how great that is??? No place is perfect, but our leaders did a fabulous job placing all kids but 2, and they were placed, just didn't like where they were placed. So get over it, move on, and if you are not happy do us all a favor and go away! Thank You, have a good day, go argue about something else.

Wasting your time talking to that guy. Some people only see their side and cannot look at a subject objectively and see that there are go points and bad points. They always think that they are right and that they can FIX the problem because you don't know what's best, they do. So let him get involved. Let him go and try to change things. We need more parents and grandparents input. But if he seriously thinks he will make a fundamental change after that league has been working for the past 30 years, I hope he has alot of patience! He's gonna need it! Hope all the kids have a great season! Cause that's who we are here for! Remember that.

meridian4200300 Where were you today??? Parents who really cared were out at the fields today cleaning and prepping for games this week. See you are just another complainer, but not willing to help when work needs to be done. If you can't help make when its needed, then your opinion won't be listened to when you want to give it.

A loved one might be quite excitable, so they get into a flap about something or they burn up a lot of nervous energy. And it's no good telling them to calm down because it will be a waste of breath.
