too bad you were against this in the beginning. People dont be so stupid, everything that is done is for progress and profit. If this wasnt the case no one would ever go anywhere including your city and jobs!!!! Bet you are the same people gripping about no good paying jobs in the area,or gripping that you can't get one those..Go back to working your job that does't even pay for you to live decent, and no future for your Children. Taxes is all you think about.Well get ready for the new year. With the new Obama taxes come Jan you Very well may not have a job.
This is for a particular group's profit and progress. We have seen you in action.

A business that offers good jobs that is looking at this area will see the SLEAZY Local Government and stay away.

Look at all the people that you kicked out of their homes in the city. LOTS and LOTS of these houses are still empty.

Look at the long trip kids are supposed to take to and from school, just so you can make a profit.

Governments like you are the reason that Successful Business Plans are not implemented in the Area.(unless someone in your group is in on it)

Gov controlling who does business using ordinances is what people call SLEAZE.

we no longer need an Obama style gov in Paducah.

doesn't the family court judge's family make money by sending people to costly programs using her power as a judge?

do we need to look into the rotary club members and the economic development members?

people just don't get the information necessary to keep the local government in line around here.

people definitely understand that they didn't have a say in the new high school and that people on the inside, NOT just one person are set to profit from our lack of influence.

we have a say in the merger to give local politicians and their inside group more political power.

the answer is NO!

there is no way we are handing more power to dirty politicians and their insider group.

what do you mean, no good jobs, many people from this area collected welfare from USEC, a prime example of how corrupt politics pays off the insiders but in the long run destroys jobs.

what about that industrial waste disposal company? do we need to talk about it?

Has anyone ever tried to start a road paving business in the area? Paving contracts can make you a multi-millionaire.

has anyone ever bid on a contract for the city and noticed that things didn't seem quit right?

has a city inspector ever tried to sell you real estate that he helped confiscate doing his job?

low appraisals, land along the river?

steak restaurant that used to be close to taco johns on Jackson street?

the "Corruption in the McCracken County Courthouse" thread gives light to some very important issues.

there is a lot to know about corruption and politics in the area.

stopping the power grab by merger is small compared to the immense mountain of corruption that appears to exist around here.

It's time we clean the mess up.

spread the word!!! let people know that you know your local government is corrupt.

Looks like a increase to me. Take a closer look.
Lexington did nor merge till 1974.

Growth before the merger was 26%.

After the merger it dropped as low as 9%.

Looks like the merger nearly killed growth in Lexington from your numbers

Exactly my point, he twists real facts to TRY and support is arguments but it doesn't add up. And I read your article in it's entirety and it is, as I suspected a biased article, lauding a local pundit for the "success of a merger" to try and snowball the readers into believing that shite. It's not an impartial, fact filled article with raw data to try to absorb like I try to give everyone.

Regardless if they grew 26% in ten years or 9 % another ten years, they still grow in a positive way. More than I can say about us. Every decade is going to be different, The economy is always changing. I know it eats at your guts knowing your wrong. Your showing signs of denial. There comes a time to swallow your pride an admit that you might be wrong.

Of course you suspect, YOUR IN DENIAL. You have to much Pride to admit your wrong on this issue. You Know as well as anyone reading these post, I have not twist anything. I simply post comments like you. Posted a Article just like you. But when you comment it suppose to be fact, When I comment it's propaganda. You do realize how you making yourself look. I think your starting to crack under pressure.

So the numbers are to be believed when you mis interpret them, but really don't mean any thing when it is pointed out to you.,

Paducah's problems are not related to the merger. lexingtons success is not related to the merger. Lexington has a university. It would have grown, and was growing anyway

Your right Paducah problem is not related to the Merger, It's related to the current situation.

At last we agree on something Paducah is growing in a negative way. That's because more and more people are fleeing the corruption of the city and moving to the county or elsewhere, but bigger and bigger government ensures that they can't escape it anymore. That's still no reason to invite it to happen.

Paducah population growth:

1930 33,541 35.6%
1940 33,765 0.7%
1950 32,828 −2.8%
1960 34,479 5.0%
1970 31,627 −8.3%
1980 29,315 −7.3%
1990 27,256 −7.0%
2000 26,307 −3.5%
2010 25,024 −4.9%

However, we still disagree on whether the merger will ACTUALLY help or not. I am not in denial about anything except of my chances of finding employment. But I do know it's a fact that a merged government will do nothing to increase my chances.

And your article was an op-ed piece from a reporter pushing an agenda that gave no facts & figures or otherwise; only opinions and conclusions without supporting evidence. What I post are articles for the reader to sift through the raw facts and determine the truth, not have it be told to them by a possible biased third party.

Look at what your local government and their buddies have done so far and you will see where they are headed with the merger.

They will control things for their personal profit. Using government to gain unfair business advantages is the lowest form of sleaze. It is self destructive to the community and the Nation.
