If you're thinking about trying for the RN program at WKCTC, DON'T! The entire 4th semester class that will be graduating in December was caught using illegal test banks to cheat. Gholson, the dean of the nursing program knows all about it & hasn't done one thing. Another semester was just given an exam that 80% of the class failed, yet the instructors took no responsibility for their part in the failure to actually TEACH the material. Yet another semester is so disorganized, student's homework gets lost, grades are never posted in a timely manner and it is a disgrace how disorganized it is. One girl, who will be an RN in January has been caught cheating red handed THREE times. No discipline action was ever taken. And should you actually dare to ask for help, everyone from Shari Gholson on down has such a miserable, burned out attitude, they will actually blame you for not understanding.
These women are some of the most bitter, conniving, backstabbing, egotistical women I have ever been so misfortunate as to be associated with.
Do anything else. Go anywhere else. But no not, I repeat DO NOT subject yourself that is the nightmare of WKCTC's RN program.

I personally disagree with you. I am a graduate of that program and NEVER had any of the problems you have claimed. On the few instances of a student cheating they were dealt with. There are quite a few instructors there that will bend over backwards to help a student. Teaching and nursing are their passions. You need to go to a corner and lick your wounds because evidently you didnt make the grade!

I also graduated from that program (years ago), and it was a great program. Everybody in my class passed state boards. Unless things have changed, and that is very possible, their program had a great reputation.

Mary Carrico is a underhanded cheat herself. Her daughter is a joke at St. Mary. She is always starting trouble and lying about something.

I graduated from there a few years ago and never had any problems. All the instructors were very willing to help in any way they could. As far as cheating only know of one incident and the student was reprimanded for it. Very thankful for this program and the opportunity to become a nurse from that school!!:)

The only people supporting this disgrace of nursing program are people who have graduated and financially benefitted from doing so. The program ALTERS GRADES in my opinion. After completing over 150 hours of advanced level classes at two different universities, classes that demanded extreme critical thinking skills, I entered that nursing program. I studied for weeks for the first test, finished it early, and re-checked all my answers for accuracy. By my estimate I could have missed 4-6 questions. The test was answered on a SCANTRON sheet. When the test grades were returned the class was given a COPY of the scantron sheet. The test questions weren't even returned to review the COPY of the scantron sheet during class. After seeing the copied scantron with a grade at the top of it, it was turned back in as well. Sherry Barnhill said if anyone made less than 82 on this test she urged them to drop the program immediately. I had the lowest grade in the entire class after achieving two college degrees with GPA's over 3.2 in both, an IQ of 139, studying for weeks for this test, re-checking answers, ect. This program is corrupt, in my opinion. Barnhill is also one of the most rude persons I've ever had the displeasure of meeting. Again, in my opinion, this program is corrupt.

No, not a lier. I can prove everything but my grade. They have control over that. After making the news for altering test scores, I suspect that's just the tip of the WKCTC iceberg. Have you ever read the graduates list for the RN program in the paper and noticed how evenly dispersed throughout the area the graduates are? Guess that's just a coincidence as well?

There are two different stories here... One, that was on the news, was about test scores being reported to the state that were higher than they actually were, that is a WKCTC as a whole problem... The nursing school cheating scandal is different... Students got a hold of test banks some how and these test banks had pretty much all the test questions for every exam they take on them... Now that the nursing program knows about it I hear test scores have dropped significantly.

On the local news as recently as last week. WKCTC president was on WPSD talking about it. They had to return a significant amount of money after the discovery that they had altered test scores.

I graduated from that program and all of these accusations are ridiculous!!! It sounds to me that you just couldnt make the cut in the program. No one said this program is easy you have to really apply yourself and make alot of sacrifices. Instead of accusing others accept responsibility for your actions. As far as Mary Carrico - she is one of the finest instructors out there. And to pick on her daughter is stupid - you are nothing but a bully!!! Dean Gholson goes out of her way to help students and I have seen her go above and beyond. So get over your failure - if you want to be a nurse then apply yourself and do it!!!

Yeah all of the tests are performed on computers and once you answer a question you can't go back! Even if the entire nursing program had every question available to them for the tests, there is this tiny thing called NCLEX that each student has to take after graduating! The students and teachers must be doing something right because the pass rate for state boards is outstanding! That program is TOUGH! Yes, there are some instructors that could use attitude adjustment;however, over all they are amazing! Especially Sherry Barnhill!
