Dealing with the symptoms, not the cause. If these young people had other options, they might not find gang life so attractive.

Better parenting? They have options. They just don't have enough guidance to see those options.

To the Police Chief good job and keep up the fantastic work and also a shout out to the Police task force as well. I wish that many of these criminals could live in town especialy made for them. Due to thier mental statics so many will never be able function normally in society.

Having grown up in LA I can say that a structured family environment may have helped me. Most teens in these situations come from homes that have only one parent and that parent is usually working or they have simply given up. Try living in an environment where all you see is drugs and violence on a daily basis.Eventually you become a part of the problem because that's how life is lived there.I had to move to a rural area to get away from that lifestyle. Now I live on a small ranch and work with horses and stay far away from those type of areas. Not to say that gangs and drugs are not around but it's not the "norm" around these parts.
I would say if you don't want your children to grow up that way then change the environment they live in. Gangs will never disappear they are a part of life in these cities.
