I heard there is a PETITION out and about pertaining to legalizing the sell and possession of alcohol in New Albany/Union County.

After some investigating (and seeing an ad in the New Albany News- Exchange) I found out this PETITION can be signed at several locations around our community: Sugaree’s Bakery, MI Pueblo (both locations), Tallahatchie Gourmet, BP Quik Mart (by The Video Shop), New Albany Truck Center (across from Westside BBQ), among possibly some other places.

It was also discovered the PETITION can be printed from the Internet at www.unioncountyunited.com . According to the web site, we can print out and distribute as many PETITIONS as we want and encourage others to sign and mail them to P.O. Box 492, New Albany, MS.

More good news is that residents who are not registered to vote can easily do so at the Circuit Clerk’s office at 114 East Bankhead Street.

This Fourth of July, as we celebrate our Freedom and Independence, take a few moments to think about what Freedom really means. What being an American is all about. People smuggle themselves to our Great Nation so they can experience the Freedoms we so often take for granted. Our ancestors left their homeland in search of Freedoms we so often take for granted. The right to VOTE should never be taken for granted!

We have been given the FREEDOM TO VOTE and owe it to our United States Military - all those who have fought, died and served to carry on that Freedom.

What better way to celebrate this year’s Independence Day than being a part of history in the making by signing the PETITION allowing a VOTE on the legalization of alcohol whether for or against it.

God Bless America!
