It really depends if you can handle the drama and stress, being underpaid for everything you have to do and deal with from some of the individuals...I worked there and had a girl try to stab me with a butter knife, & they steal, and have some ridiculous behaviors in public, it's embarrassing because then when you call "on call" they always take them to McDs like its a damn reward instead of punishing them for their behaviors... I know sometimes they don't know or can't control theirselves but the individuals I had we're more high functioned and told me when I first started what sets off their behaviors and the things they will do if u feed into it they do it more bc they like the attention! I mean if u can tell me that then u can control your actions! Be prepared and if u make it thru training you take a self defense class, you will need it!!!

Ya its a great place to work, every person can make a difference, it takes a special person to work with special needs. . .

Depends on the clients. I loved one of mine in particular, but lots of em are trying to get you fired. Clients brag about getting staff fired.

It deff does take a special person to work with special needs if this is what u r interested in then I would deff look at diff avenues of that field not saying ALL employees there are the same & there may be some that really do care, but majority of them especially upper management, steal the clients money (which is lil to nothing) along with the foodstamps each home is given and whatever else they can get away with!! So if you really do care & don't want to be put in a real mess (trying to turn them in....end result...fired)!!!! I personally would NOT!!! There are private setters doing the same type of work & the pay is extremely worth it, for instance I work 30 hours a week & get pd $18 an hour!!!

Traci Carter used to work there. She used the clients food stamps to buy food for her house and used the clients christmas money to buy gifts for her own kids. When she couldnt produce reciepts she quit so she wouldnt be fired

CAKY can be a good place to work if you do not need to work and just looking for something to do! however you need to know about what you are getting yourself into! CAKY is a family place which means that if you are not family to the upper management or close friend then more or likely you won't make it, no matter how hard you work, the time you put in or the ass beatings that you take! for Cindy, Angela and Amy R. if you are not their family or close friend you are not nothing to them! and that is sad because those individuals need wonderful caring people to take care of them!

I have worked at CAKY for 7 years and I have worked in just about every department and I am not family with anyone. I moved up because I worked my butt off and because I deserved it. They people we take care of is the reason I am still there. They need people who are going to be there for them and take care of them they way they need to be taken care of. CAKY is a good place to work if you are there for the right reason which is to help the individuals learn the skills they need to survive. If you are there just for the money or to make new friends and if you don't want to do any work then yea you will get fired. Granted there may be issues but what work place doesn't have issues??? We learn and change things every day trying to improve things and make them better. Sometimes the changes work and some time they don't.

Everyone knows that CAKY is the worse place to send your loved ones too that is why they go all over the state taking clients from nursing homes and other institutions as their reputation here stinks. The day program located themselves at the end of a dead end over by UPS as they believe that society doesn't like to see 'these type' of people actually in the community. When they are out in the community it is usually to stores where all the stores staff make fun of them in the breakroom (trust me I hear it) or just drive around just to be able to document that they do take them out. Then you may or may not have times where the loved ones DIE in their care, allegedly, a while back one choked to death as they were on a pureed diet and was fed a sandwich! WTF! I pray that it gets better not for any reason but the clients well being. Reform CAKY!!!
