I grew up in Owensboro and HoC was where we ate Chinese food. I have never had an eggroll better than that place. I know Mr. Chiu passed years ago and the restaurant closed, but dose anyone have a contact with the family that can help me learn to make them or know where they got them? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I hadnt heard the owner passed away. I run into his wife(she was a cook) at Sam's Club and their daughter(was the waitress most of the time) is a hostess on weekends/summer break at OCharleys she goes to college too though. I think her brother also is a host there. They had the best everything it was different than any other place and thats why I grew up with my parents taking me there as well.

Oh, I love all these post and love hearing that everyone agrees with me how good it was. It is kind of like BBQ. If you leave Oboro, it is never the same. House of Chiu has done the same for me for Chinese food. I also had it for the first time on 9th street. Cashew Chicken. I will never forget. Someone PLEASE let me know if they have access to the eggroll recipe they used. It has been 10 years since I have had that delicacy!

They had the best everything it was different than any other place and thats why I grew up with my parents taking me there as well. You are confused. The daughter, Angel Chiu, is a drug addict who is missing teeth and has 5 kids by 5 different Mexicans. Her brother, Robbie, is also a druggie who has been in and out of prison. The mother, Vickie, has a gambling and drinking problem. Dont believe me, look up Angel Zuniga on Facebook.

Owners. Actually I think Mags is also right. It is currently dunkin donuts, for a couple of years pizzaroma, and before that for 10+years was House of Chiu. The same family ran it and their last names were not chiu. I do recall 9th st and this must have been the original operators of HoC but the same family (not Chiu) moved the location and recipes to Frederica across from KWC. My brother had the biggest crush on their daughter (the waitress for about 2-3 years before they closed) and they were the same age. He is 20 now. So I don't think Mags is confused but you guys must not realize the ownership changed hands 12+ years ago. But the food stayed the same. PS the cook, owner, mom has a sister who ran a couple of different chinese places in Ohio County throughout the years. Food was similar but not the same as HoC.

Please wait...
The Chinese place in central city is ran by the same family. I bought the old Chinese place in beaver dam and turned it into a scrapbook store, while we were in negotiations with the people from HOC to buy the building I got to meet the whole family. Hope this helps.
