Honestly I work for Audubon and I couldn't tell you what a family specialist is or does! Must not be to important because I work for one of the 4 centers and I've never heard of it.

Which 4 centers? The head start centers? Don't forget, Audubon Area has multiple programs, departments and facilities. A Family Specialist most likely deals with CCR&R (Child Care Resource and Referral). I work for AACS as well.

Just wondering what a typical day is like for this position and how much the position pays.

They did not ask if the job was important.... they asked if it was a good position.

It's part of the Family Preservation department. Your typical day goes however you schedule it. It's a flexible schedule, which is great. You have a certain number of families that you are working with for a certain number of hours (depends on the type of case). These are families that are involved with DCBS, and you work with the families to make sure the home is a safe environment for the children. But according to "suuuuure" that's not really an important job, I mean, who cares about keeping kids safe, right?! If they haven't heard of it, must not be important. Basically, it's a good job, and the flexible schedule is great.

Ok, please don't judge all of Audubon's employees by "Suuuure". That made him/her look very immature. I also work at one of the four centers and I have heard of this position. It's a great department of AACS and it's a very important job. Our mission is to help low income families and children and this is one of the many ways we do that.

Not great, but not terrible. The benefits are good, the people you work with are great, and you have a flexible schedule, so those are all definite pluses. You also get paid mileage, which is almost an extra paycheck depending on where your cases are. They serve a 7 county area.

Pay is roughly 25k/ yr and although you get to make your own schedule, its made around the clients. Some clients show up and meet the requirements and others are very difficult to deal with. Weekend meetings aren't uncommon. Even late at night to meet all requirements.

Is it hard to get hired on?

Thank the Libs! This will play right into Obama's hands. He's humanitarian, compassionate. They'll use this to burnish their, shall we say,'credibility' with the black community in the both light-skinned and dark-skinned black community in this country. It's made-to-order for them. That's why he couldn't wait to get out there, could not wait to get out there!

They didn't help you at all? I'm pretty sure they went out of their way to help you to the max! What happened isn't audubons fault. They didn't make that policy.

And, also, I wasn't speaking of one particular policy. I don't think certain things were handled in the best manner to help anyone.

I'm not sure any of this is relevant to what she asked about a specific position. jly - if you have more questions, let me know. As far as getting hired on, it probably depends on how many people applied. Good luck!
