maybe DHS should take their children and make them pay for foster care.. then they can worry if someone is leaving their children out in the rain as a form of discipline..oh and have them both fixed.

So how were these kids even placed in a home within such close proximity to a regitered sex offender? How did these parents come to the conclusion that lock out is a disipline tactic? Why were these kids not comfortable enough to ask for help rather than sit in the rain and wait for their abusers to get back? This is why the class action suit against dhs was filed.

What scum bags. As if these foster kids didn't have enough issues to deal with, then be placed with these low lifes. Kudos to the neighbor that reported this abuse.

The truth is that we are making judgements without knowing all the facts of the situation. The adopted children have been threatening to make the entire family pay for the past two years every time they are asked to obey. These children have been provided with the best of care since their adoption even trough perpetual misconduct and this isolated situation will permantly damage the entire family.

This just goes to show you that children who end up in foster care often receive worse treatment than what they were getting in the homes they were taken out of. Most of these foster parents do it for the check that they get on the children instead of trying to be helpful to kids who really need it. DHS needs to REQUIRED to be more involved in the lives of EVERY child in foster care. Quit putting them in homes and then forgetting all about them. This is Pathetic and the story could be much worse.

If these parents were having so much trouble they should have called DHS and let them be removed and replaced in a different home. There were options that didn't involve leaving them in the rain.

i am going to say this and it may make some people angry but looks to me like they enjoyed the state money for these two foster kids but not the responsibility of taking care of them...like alot of you have said...if they were having any issues with these children then DHS has social workers and psychologists available...these kids are already from abusive situations...why perpetuate their pain...yes its going to take alot of love to help these two kids...like all abused kids they will have trust issues ...but why keep adding to their issues...shame on them...

Shame on them but also shame on the people who thought it would be okay to ahve them fostered there given the fact that there was a sex offender 250 feet away. I don't feel the police should be able to use that in the report if the children were placed there knowing that. I also think that a mother, biological or not, would know that if you are having trouble with a teen threatening you or themselves at any time or reason that the authorities should be called. Did they not think that children had been through enough and not matter how they became Foster kids, someone should have been notified. I guess the monthly money was too much for them to turn down even with htese kids being a direct example for their other children.

They should send the adults to Laura Dester.. that place is way worse than jail. Those poor kids. I hope they find someone to love them soon.

I had similar thoughts and my previous post was pretty close to yours, though you did bring something up I didn't think about until now. You asked why the kids didn't go for help, maybe they had been passed to so many homes already that they were ready to be quiet and deal with it. I feel sorry for the way these children are passed around... and for them to be so old in the system anyway, how sad. I guess we wait and watch for updates on this story if we get any huh?

The "family" was "permanently damaged" when the so called parents were allowed to have foster children in the first place. Yes, many foster children DO have problems with discipline, and good foster parents KNOW that and HOW to deal with it. The people were in it for the check,, otherwise they would have called DHS and asked to have them removed. By the way, "The Truth" these were FOSTER children, not adopted, BIG DIFFERENCE.
What is amazing to me is that the children ACTUALLY WAITED in the rain and cold (I was out, it was cold). Did these children show "perpertual midconduct" by doing this? I think not. It was the FOSTER PARENTS who exhibited misconduct. Shame on them!! DHS:PLEASE NEVER LET THESE PEOPLE EVER AGAIN HAVE A CHILD IN THEIR CARE!!

They should be forced to repay the government for all checks received during the "care" of these foster children, from the moment they arrived to this date. They did not provide the service for which they were paid; therefore, they need to repay every last cent. It is the taxpayers money after all...

They should also be punished for the crime itself. Nobody leaves a child outside in the rain after dark, period. How stupid and inhumane can a body be? Where do you get these foster parents?

These foster children have already been subjected to the stupidity of their biological parents, and now this. The children need therapy and a lot of it. No wonder they want to hurt themselves....they are being physically and mentally abused!!

This is outrages and should be handled in a swift manner as an example of what happens when you abuse a child left in your care. I cannot wrap my head around leaving 2 children behind and taking 2 with you? I could never do such a thing and be able to sleep at night!!!!!

These two need life in prison and DHS needs to be shut down and every employee terminated. When is the DHS foster system going to be cleaned up so children are not subjected to abuse at taxpayer expense. Give them life with NO parole!

If there were harsh penalties people would not take in foster children unless they really had their hearts into it instead of doing it for the money.

one more reason for public caning. Do you think they would have done things the same if they knew they would get 50 lashes with a really big stick?

Yet another great example of the kinds of foster parents that are used by the state. Hello?! Common sense?! If you can't trust the kids around the knives, the you don't leave them home alone AND you get them some psych help. I am sure locking them out in the cold did wonders for their psych state.

The article says they are foster children NOT adopted children. If there has really been threats and such for 2 years they could have told DHS they didn't want the kids anymore and to place them somewhere else. It also goes on to say that the foster daughter says this happens all the time so it may not be an isolated incident.
