Let's see if any administrators have an answer for this.....don't Oswego kids go to OEHS as well? Talk about making them all feel like second-class citizens!
WHY IS THIS HAPPENING HERE?

Maybe the schools principal, dean , you know school officals, maybe they should be the ones asking why, who cares, most of the kids there wouldn't give a crap anyway. I swear there would not be so much arguing if they had just added on to OHS, and not expanded the district to Aurora residents, it should have just been Oswego residents going to Oswego schools. I think building this 2nd high school has caused more problems than anything else.Otis has a point, where would they have a parade, maybe that is why they don't have one can't figure out where it would be. They can't very well march down Wolf road now can they. It is called tradition, OHS has always had a homecoming parade, do the OHS school officials have to do the job of OEHS officials and say hey why don't you guys have a parade, they are adults they need to make the decision. okay I am really rambling, I am sorry.

For the millionth time, THE DISTRICT WAS NOT EXPANDED. Aurora and Plainfield were ALWAYS a part of the district. But there used to be CORN and now there are HOUSES. And do you really want a high school with 4800 kids in it? Not me.

Now about the homecoming parade. My kids went to OEHS for one year before being transferred to OHS. On the night of the OHS parade, OEHS has a HUGE bonfire. You can see that fire for miles (Oswego firetrucks on the scene). The school sets up bug video screens and the kids LOVE it. The school polled the kids and they DO NOT want a parade. The kid's opinion is "OHS gets the parade, we get the bonfire, everybody's even."

Chill out I know we always had Aurora and Plainfield, but it was expanded some more, I know people who would have gone to East Aurora, but thte boundaries changed and they go to OEHS settle down it will be okay. I still firmly beleive it should only be Oswego residents, let the others deal with the overcrowded problems, why should we make room for other cities let them build another school to compensate for their population. Plainfield has how many high schools an we still have them in our district.

I appreciate your calm demeanor, but I beleive you are still wrong. The boundaries did not change BETWEEN DISTRICTS. Can you give me the actual location of homes that used to be in District 131 but were changed to Dist 308? Now I do believe there are students who should be at East Aurora at OEHS, but I they are there illegally (by using someone elses Oswego address as their "home" of record). I can't blame them, I wouldn't want to go to East Aurora either, but I resent footing the bill for them.

I am not giving out any more info except they are very close to the border. If you want info out me then you give the info of the people using Oswego adresses illegally, that is what I hate these people using the adresses don't have to pay the taxes for the schols like we do, go to East Aurora, can't help where you live. I know by reading the ledger that there are alot o dilinqunts at OEHS, and honestly most of them live in the Aurora I bet, come on I still think 2 schools are too many, there would not be somany if they kept the bounderies to only Oswego, no Plainfield, no Aurora. I thank you for being polite , not many on this site are, just our view on things neithere of us are wrong, or right

We do agree on somethings. I detest knowing that people scam the system and I have to pay for it. I found out about one alleged incident of using someone else's address last year and called the District Office. I heard of another one this year where someone in Oswego was going to be named "guardian" so they could do to OSwego schools but still live in East Aurora. I called the school on that one too and the student is attending East Aurora this year. So I gave you informaton - would you be willing to give me locations now? I'm just interested because the school boundaries were established 80 years ago, and have not been changed since. They are essentially carved in stone.

The only info I can give is what the parent told me. My daughter was in OYTF cheer with this womans daughter. I was not very fond of her or her children. I at the time did not know she lived in Aurora, she preceeded to tell me tath the only reason she moved to where she did was because it was 308 schools. I think she is way out behind the Burger king on rt.34 near the Bethany methodist church, near Wabonsee. I know her condo is near a CVS back back in there somewhere. She kept on how she gets to send her kids to district 308, but doesn't have to pay our outrageous taxes, she gets to pay for the Aurora taxes, I believe she was concerned about them going to the East side. maybe she was just trying to get under my skin, but she was very happy not to have to pay our school taxes, but was so proud to be sending her kids to 308. like I said she was a pain in the you know what, so maybe she was trying to get us mad, I guess it worked. I went to Oswego I graduated in 1987, and I do not remember the bounderis being that far out, I am sure they have changed, the number of students has rose so much it is just unbelieveable. Thank you for calling on those people, it only makes it more expensive for us as true residents when this happens.

Yes you are corect being a oswego resident , We get taxed hard , every Town should have their own schools . I agree with you I had a hard time selling my home because I was OHS, Then 6 months later I heard all kinds of bashing. They check residencies regularly and kick people out , Then they get a bill for taxes the lady in the office told me at OHs. This was as we were transfering out . This happened to many areas in Naperville too. They need to esablish better boundaries and we should all be taxed fairly . Then none of us would have a problem.

Dearest "appalled" - OHS has a bonfire too. And if your kids transferred to OHS (you mean you MOVED because no kids were transferred out of OEHS to OHS unless they moved), how can you say OEHS kids were polled? You don't know. My kids have been at OEHS since the money pit opened and NOT ONCE were they asked for their opinions on anything. So stop lying. The district administrators treat OEHS as a second-class school and ALWAYS will.

Wow, those are strong words. You're pretty angry. So here's my story; my oldest went to OEHS for a year, and when the boundaries changed our neigborhood was redistricted to OHS. We made the decision to have all of our kids attend the same school and transferred the oldest to OHS, instead of sending the three others to OEHS. We didn't move, the boundaries moved. During his freshman year at OEHS, I attended both Parent Advisory Meetings held by Dr. Howerton. About 25 parents showed for 2000+ students. It was Dr. Howerton's assertion that the kids were asked about the bonfire, so if you think someone's lying, it would be him, not me.

I personally have nothing against OEHS. My son was happy there and did well. You, on other hand, need some anger management. Have a nice day.

Jaa- many districts have residents from the neighboring town that pay taxes for their "address" town but attend schools in the other's district. It does not necessarily mean that boundaries were moved.

http://www.oswego308.org/about/attendence.asp...

Take a look at the link I provided. It shows boundary for 308.

Jaa "Burger king on rt.34 near the Bethany methodist church, near Wabonsee. I know her condo is near a CVS back back in there somewhere. She kept on how she gets to send her kids to district 308, but doesn't have to pay our outrageous taxes, she gets to pay for the Aurora taxes"

Most of that area on the south side of the road is oswego 308 school district. Those folks indeed pay taxes to the school district but not village of oswego or oswego park or library district taxes.

None of the local agencies boundaries are aligned.

The oswego village, school, park and library district all have differing boundary and are independent taxing agencies. The area you speak of pays oswego 308 school taxes and Fox valley Park district takes, aurora library taxes.

OHS does not have a bonfire. Thats too bad that OEHS people feel that they are second class, especially with such a beautiful facility. From my experience, my OHS student did more with OEHS than her own school, dances, proms, many sports functions. So what...it's still friends from her town. Also, why do people get so bent out of shape, because things are not the same..(Parade and bonfire). Whats wrong with these 2 schools having their own traditions? Only OEHS kids can go to the bonfire...I really don't think OHS kids are upset by that...
Get over it....should we bring up the swimming pool? NO..because it is what it is!

I feel sorry for all of you in District 308. There's so much ignorance, racism, and division. At the kids' expense. Your test scores are horrible, your teachers are not much older than high schoolers, and you let administrators do whatever they want. Good luck and God bless.

You can't move because no-one wants to buy a house in your district - you (and your kids who probably can't WAIT to get out) are stuck my dear. Good luck!

No actually, I'm very happy here. Oswego has been great for my family. My kids are in college already. So... no ...my friend...I take great pleasure in telling you that you are very wrong. And I feel very fortunate and praise God for my good fortune everyday!
