Of course all signs are pointing to the father being guilty, but have you thought that there may be one or possibly many peices of evidence that the police have not disclosed yet? The fact that he was free to go just hours after the family was found is telling...with all of the evidence that points to him being the killer? There must be something that none of us know yet. And I know that the police are most likely keeping a very close eye on him, waiting for the evidence to mount against him then bring him in to get a confession...but I think we all need to keep an open mind before frying this guy. you may be very surprised at what comes out in the next few days!
Absolutely!! Many conclusions are being made without knowing all the facts.

How can you read all of the articles about this case and believe a word of what Chris Vaughn is saying? He's changed his stories so many times - it's ridiculous ! WHY would he have pulled off the expressway and driven to a remote spot - with NO ACCESS back to the expressway - to "adjust the luggage rack" - PLEASE don't defend someone who tells such unbelievable, stories. Kimberly is the one who should be defended - he's accused her of this horrific crime !!!

Unless you haven't read and heard all there is on this story - then, of course, you would defend him. Or, perhaps, you are just naive.

Maybe you need to read my post again, I am not defending anyone. I am simply saying that I think there are many facts that we do not know about this case. of course with what we have been told by the media and the few facts that the police have told, the evidence OVERWHELMINGLY points to the father being guilty. Do you really think that the police do not see this? Yet Mr Vaughn remains a free man. This leads me to believe there is some very crucial evidence that has not been released. Have you thought that it may be possible that the person first on the scene saw or at least heard the final shot that killed Kimberly - all while he was talking to Christopher? I have not heard that man say anything yet. I heard what his friends had to say, but nothing directly from him. I am not saying this happened...but simply saying that you may all be very surprised when all of the facts are released and until that point you need to keep an open mind and not critisize someone because they dont feel the same way as you

why didnt he use the cel phone, why did he pull off to remote area.....WHY DID HE KILL THE CHILDREN!!!

if your kids had been killed...how would you react? You think you would be logical? this is a situation that we cannot understand...

I am not afraid to say that there IS the possibility that he did not do this...although he has massive loops in his story, wait til the police do there job before launching a witch hunt....If this was all done in the car, surely the police would have the evidence they need....

sorry if this is controversial....but it is possible...i dont know details and neither do you....everyone points a fingers to easily because the little children are dead and i am angry about that t0o....but if he did it....wait to pour out your ill thoughts until it is confirmed....

I think we are all concerned that the police cannot book this man until all of the evidence comes in - and in the meantime, he's out there in the public ! Hope he doesn't find a reason to start shooting again...

Bewildered, I've read all the articles and no where can I find that the dad keeps changing his story. From what I can tell, the story, which is hard to believe, has not changed at all. Help me out here...

i hink everyone wants to blame someone immediately because this situation is so horrific....he is the obvious choice....but it is unfair to do this until the investigation is complete...also chinese whispers...i think there is a bit to much speculation to get an open mined opinion....we have all virtually condemned a man already...but there is actually a big "if" here!!

At the risk of people slamming me here- I just want to say something. I have driven that road many times- mainly to go boating. It dead ends at river pub called the Big Basin Saloon. However, if you are going south on 55 and pull over on Bluff Road, to get BACK on the highway you have to PASS the frontage road because the onramp to 55 is the NEXT road. It can be very confusing! He may have pulled off onto Bluff, fixed the luggage rack, and then THOUGHT he was pulling back on to the highway and accidently went down the frontage road- it's very easy to do. When 55 was under contruction I took the "back roads" plenty of times and even knowing where I was going I made the mistake of pulling down that road thinking it was the on ramp to 55.

I heard on the radio this morning that he told the police that he had "confessed something" to his wife right before he pulled off I55 to fix the luggage rack. Hmmmm.
The state crime lab is supposed to have the results back "in days". Chris is currently in St. Charles for the funerals.
If that doesn't give him away as the killer then I don't what does. He HAD to come up with an explanation for her losing it all of a sudden. What kind of confession makes a good mother go into such a rage in a matter of minutes and want everyone dead?

I don't think anyone will slam you for that observation for it is a good one. All aspects need to be looked at. Facts are facts and cannot be altered, or, well, at least, shouldn't be altered.

You speak as if you know something...

Again -- I agree that he likely did this. However, when kids are killed by their mothers, more often than not it's because of either mental illness, or because of/for a husband or girlfriend. For example, guy says "I don't want this life anymore, I can't handle the kids, the burden of all of this, blah, blah, blah," mom's solution is to drive the minivan with the kids strapped into the backseat into a lake. "See honey? I fixed it. Now it can just be the two of us!"
The big difference here -- aside from all the goofy physical evidence that just doesn't add up -- is the use of the gun. Women seldom if ever use guns to kill their kids.

OOps, posted reply to the wrong post.
I mean to say it here, that you speak as if you know something when you say "you may be very surprised at what comes out in the next few days!"

You're right. I haven't seen anything about his changing his story either. A lot of speculation can confuse people as to what is real and what is speculated.

He's a KILLER. They need to get him locked up so that justice can be served. All evidence is pointing to him. If it is true that he confessed something I would think she would of just killed him. Why were there guns in the car anyhow> It sounds pre-meditated!!

I've asked myself the same question about the gun being in the car.?? Why would someone carry a gun around who normally does not do so? Or, well, maybe they did?

On Thursday when the police first questioned him, he said that someone had shot at their car. This was in the news on Thursday when the story first came out.

I agree. He seems like he thinks he is smarter than everyone. Look at him though. I don't care if he DID confess something. SO WHAT! Does he really think he is worth killing children and herself over. Sorry, I don't think so. He is so egotistical that he thinks this story will fly.
