The scheme involved fiber optics communication contracts and money being paid to a consulting company owned by Cox.
Too close for comfort.

beware is more like it. He is a dishonest man engaging in dishonest activities. His transgressions will be brought to the light soon enough.

And you are a moron. Maybe if you posted all the facts and applied them to Hanks, you would see that this situation does not apply. Thanks for showing us all how dumb you are.

Todd Hanks little business arrangement with CEC only came to light after the Gazette did some investigation. All that this points out is Todd Hanks activities should be treated with circumspect given the history of corrupt politicians and yes even County Commissioners. As an example with fiber optics being promoted by Hanks et al might not CEC be involved and might Todd Hanks get a sales commission. Just because he doesn't vote on something doesn't mean that the other two Commissioners cannot vote yes and line their colleague's pocket.

Yeah, it is wrong for a commissioner to take a bribe and acknowledge it by abstaining and letting the other two, not bribed, commissioners approve the contract. Then you have your prosecutor, also the recipient of a payoff, approve the contract.

Then you vote every time to be sure your payer of the payoff gets his payments of public money from your dirty work.

Whoops, that's not Hanks, the paid off public officials are O'Bren and Yost.

A fiber optics contract in Butler County, a consulting firm of an incumbent Commissioner getting paid for "services" and it could have gone on undetected had it not been for a court case in Florida.

Hopefully there will be no similiar misteps in Delaware County. But it makes you wonder had the Gazette not run the story , Kaitsa and Yost not objected, etc. what would or could have occured.

"Indited" is only one of at least three displays of ignorance:

- The Butler Co, Commissioner's name is Michael Fox - not Cox.

- Fox's actions are no way comparable to Hanks'

- CEC doesn't not employ Hanks

Todd Hanks is walking a tight rope with his "consulting" contract with CEC. All he has to do is put money in his left pocket versus right pocket and he will fall off just like former Commissioner Michael Fox. Solution end his gravy benefit with CEC and walk on the sidewalk like the rest of us.

OK for the record is CEC going to get any part of the jail or courthouse expanions?? Directly or indirectly as a subcontractor which at the time of the Commissioners vote is likely unknown to protect Todd Hanks balance on the tight rope.

Only contractors whose families and employees who contribute to the appropriate campaigns will be considered. Paydoff-Kenthorn O'Brien and Paydoff-Yost have procedures in place for such things.

CEC pays Hanks (like Fox, Hanks has a "consulting company")$50K per year for "20 hrs per Week" and a sales commission on any new work CEC gets in Delaware County.

Per the Delaware County Political Reporter 2008 archives on Auditor Todd Hanks

"The local news in a shocking display of real balls called Auditor Hanks "delusional" We'd like to add stupid or dishonest, or corrupt to a description of him"

With press like the above how can the tax paying public trust Hanks and is it not fair to cast a shadow on his dealings with CEC and the Michael Fox thing just shows us how it could be done.

Because CEC can get subcontracts from Companies that have direct contracts with the County. Plus the Commissioners office has an implied power with the various municipalities and Developers that have to deal with the Commisioners on sewer, road, etc projects. So there is an incentive to keep everybody happy in the political game. And the county engineer is known to do business with CEC.Lastly if there was no perceived benefit from Todd hanks (heaven knows he has no engineering expertise) Commissioners position why would CEC pay him so much money and even add a sales commision and confine it to business in Delaware County??

you are a moron who can't even spell the newspaper you are getting your "facts" from. You state that Hanks gets money from all future contracts. The Gazette has been wrong on several occasions. Show me a contract not a rag written by imbeciles. I'll be kinder with my language when you quit showing your ignorance to the world.
