Has anyone had any problems with Travis Sanitation?
I was with this company for my garbage pick-up and tried to get a couple of containers for my garbage...this company would either not return my phone calls after I left messages on their voice mail...would give me excuses as to why they couldn't get me any containers...said they would put my name on a "waiting list"...said they didn't have containers or they were in and needed to be "cleaned"...finally the latest excuse was they "didn't have anybody to deliver their containers"...
I told them their "customer service" was terrible and that I was going with Waste Management...
Waste Management may be a bit higher in cost but their customer service is a lot better and they don't treat you like a second class citizen...
And.....they deliver your containers to you...
Being such a small company for the Oscoda community you would think they would be more customer friendly but obviously by their "attitude" they really don't care about their customers...such a shame...I'm sure I am not the only customer they have lost due to their total lack of response and crappy attitude...
Maybe they will take notice when more people decide not to put up with the way they do business.

Or another angle: They are much smaller than WM....Maybe they are overwhelmed with customers that have left Waste Management.

I know that small business can't easily deliver things as quickly as bigger companies. Their excuses may be legitimate. You didn't give a timeline and I hear many people that want/demand it "now".

Be cautious with WM, they require a year contract then change the price if you "overfill" the container on a holiday but continue to charge even if you have one bag in the container most of the winter. The wait for Travis is probably a better solution and after you a customer you will get that "customer" service.

I was a customer with Travis Sanitation for awhile now...I have been calling for about 2 months now for containers for my trash...they give me excuses as to why they don't have them...and when they finally get them in I have to go and get them?...don't think so...they have NEVER answered my voice mails...i.e. calling me back...and never ever said I had to pick up my containers...just said they had to clean them out and for me to call them back by end of week if noone contacted me...which I did...several times...still got their voice mail and NO calls back as promised on the voice mail...
They have very POOR customer service...obviously NO customer service from what I saw...
I did NOT demand it now...I have been trying for a couple of months to try and get these containers...to no avail...
Finally got tired of it and went with Waste Management...maybe pay more but great customer service...and they deliver their containers to you...
So just wanted people to beware of this company...I guess since there are only 2 trash companies that work this neighborhood of ours they think they can be snotty and treat people the way they do...well they just lost one customer and I certainly will NOT reccommend them to anyone else...

I've been a customer of Travis Sanitation for many years and have never had any difficulties with garbage pick-up. You can use your own container and they will empty it. I don't use any container. I simply put my bags out in the morning and they're gone when I get home from work. They pick up on most holidays as well. I would recommend them to anyone. BTW I'm not related, friends with or know anyone connected with Travis; just a satisfied customer.

I have to agree with dreamer! I had difficulties with Travis Sanitation and Sunrise. I am now with WM and couldn't be more pleased. I have never been charged for extras and the customer service is wonderful. The people at Sunrise were downright rude, and I didn't get much of a response from Travis. To each his own, I guess...

My mistake. I, too, am willing to support local businesses, when they provide quality service. I start local and if they fail to provide, I move my business elsewhere.

We to had problems with Travis Sanitation, all of the complaints that Oscodagirl had. We were also with this company for years and after 3 weeks of no answers, excuses, and the rudeness we finally went to WM also. We were also told that if and when they got more garbage containers they would charge us $2.00 more a month, I don't think so. And for supporting a small town business I am for that also if they give customer satisfaction. Being a small town business can be run professionally such as bigger company like WM. I personally knew the man that started the garage business in Oscoda, he and his family did a wonderful job and were efficient and professional. Someone was there to answer the phone, give an answer and work with you to solve any problem that may arise. Mr. Crowl also put in the transfer station which is now falling down and not been serviced and maintained. If your going to have a small local business you have to care about your customers and they come first.

I was with WM for about two years and they are as bad as Charter about raising there prices. It started off I around $50.00 every quarter and that was a fare price. But then it went to 55 then 60 then 70 the last increase was to $82.00 and I through in the towel. Enough is enough. I call Travis and they wanted $69.00 and didnt have the roll around dumpsters at that time. I also called Sunrise disposal and the where $60.00 and have the roll around dumpsters witch they deliver. I havent had any problems with SD. Now it I could just get rid of charter I might be able to save a little money. And by the way I DO NOT support local businesses, I do all of my business in Tawas where its cheaper.

I have also had lots of trouble with Travis Sanitation they dont call you back or pick up garbage on time I have a 4 yard can at my house and in the past 4 months it was picked up 6 times and they keep charging the price with no service I may call the Better Bus Beur to let them know about this practice

We have used Travis Sanitation for nearly 5 years.

We have a 300 ft driveway and they come down the driveway to pick up the cans.

We rarely have any issue with the cans being picked up.

Early on we did have an issue because they wanted to use their larger truck. Our driveway is lined on one side with mature White Pines and the branches overhang the drive. It is a double wide drive but their big truck could not come down the driveway without driving on the lawn because of the branches and the height of their truck.

Eventually they go the message and we have not had a problem since.

We do not currently have a need for the trash can on wheels so we just put out our regular cans.

They also recently started taking some recyclables.

Our latest fee is 89.00 per quarter which includes driving down the driveway.

We have rarely had an issue with them missing a collection and the few times we did, once we notified them, the cans were picked up within 24 hours.

[Nothing but trouble with Travis for the past 3 years. Before that we only had to call once or twice a year when they missed a pickup. 7 missed pickups since May this year and we have to drag our can back and forth our 80 ft. driveway, sometimes three days running. Can't leave it out at night or kids will turn it over.
When I call they say they'll have it picked up and then it just isn't done. First excuse was driver went to wrong side of US23. In this day and age there's no excuse for that. He went back to the wrong side of 23 again and again. It's just so frustrating.

we have had travis sanitation for 3 years as well changed from WM and couldnt be happier with the service and the taking of the recycleables is great.

Travis is the worst company that I have dealt with in years the other day on Wed when they did NOT pick up our garbage I called 4 times and left messages each time, no one ever called me back, the following day I called again, and someone actually answered and said that they would definalty be there Friday, so I humped my garbage back out and guess what no one came, then of course I called again, 6 TIMES and no one picked the phone up or called me back, even thogh theey are SUPPOSEDto have a secretary there 9 to 5 according to their message. Hed sadi I had to talk to the secretary that is there M t F 9 to 5 to deal with that, well guess what NO ONE EVER answers the phone so I can, I . I told him I wanted him to call the owner right then, he laughed and said he would not call his FATHER on a Sat, and I was to call the office on Monday. So I told him I guess it is ok that I A PAYING ON TIME CUSTOMER can come there on my Sat out of my way with wet garbage that I put out twice for them and I guess he was ok with that. He did NOTHING FOR ME and NO ONE has ever called me even though I left my business card there with that littel disrespectful brat. I have also call since and left 3 messages and I have NOT receiveed any call back, I am MOVING MY BUS they are completly rude and unprofessional people and they just simply do not care what their customers think or feel-

You are absolutely right. They are the most incompetent business people in town. I am gone 3 months out of the year, and they insist on billing me for that 3 months> Its like pulling teeth trying to get them to straighten it out. Months of phone arguments. Terribly incompetent, or just plain uneducated. I refuse to pay in advance. I remedy the situation by paying at the end of the month. If they pick up the garbage every week, I send them a check for that month.

Called and talked to someone who said the secretary had larnygitis, took the information and would call back. Nope, I called back two days later. Same guy, same story, only apparently she is sitting there and telling him what to say,so I requested to be billed senior rate on a monthly basis. Okay, No problem. Then received a bill for three months. Called back. Same guy, same story. I needed to be billed senior rate on a monthly basis. Okay, No problem. Then received a bill for two months. Called back. No answer. Called back. No answer. Called back. Same guy, same story, same woman in the background relaying information. Then no bill. Finally mailed half the payment of the two month bill. Next month recieved the correct bill in the correct amount. But found better service and canceled. Unprofessional. Add me to the list.

Why didn't you just pay the senior rate in the first place and put it in writing stating that was your intention? I have found phone conversations are never the end all no matter the company you are dealing with...in other words always put it in writing. Whatever..you have a right to hire whomever you want. I have Travis and am satisfied with the service. I only go on my experience. There are many other businesses I could "trash" in this area but it's not worth it. Everybody has their opinion.
