Born the same day in 1954

This summer I had upgraded to a better phone. One of the first things that I downloaded was the Missing Persons App. A few weeks ago I was showing it to a friend who then started looking at who was missing from her home sate of MI.
When she handed it back to me I continued to look and then the notice for Pam caught my eye and took my breath away.
We were born on the same date. May 25, 1954
I can not imagine how the family members are feeling. To not know where a person is for all those years is unthinkable.
IN all honesty I don't think that from down here that I'd be much help to your case but we do camp a lot in National and State park campgrounds and see all sorts of people that come and go. Who knows maybe one day I will see a person that is listing as missing and help to bring them home to their family.
I just pray that the family can finally get answers someday and be able to bring both girls home.

I knew both Patty and Pam, not as close friends, but just fellow members of OHS Class of 72. I also lived quite close to Patty. All of these years I have thought of them and wondered what happened. I think all of us from class of 72 have them in our heads somewhere.
I will never forget Mrs Spencer pleading over the high school intercom for someone to come forward and tell where she was. I will never forget her haunted eyes when I saw her working at the drug store. At the time there were so many rumors floating around, "they were hiding at Silver Springs campground;, had run away to some hippie commune downstate, etc., etc.(69 was primetime for hippie commune rumors.) I always figured they got in a car with the wrong person or people.
I am writing this just to say that what happened did affect many people outside the family. It was so terribly sad and so strange in little Oscoda. My best wishes to the families.

I just wanted to add that when I heard Mrs. Spencer had died all I could think was, "at last she can stop looking for Patty and wondering." She was a nice lady who really struggled to raise her children alone, something not common in the '60's.

But thanks for putting in your worthless two cents anyways. I am not quite sure why you even bother following this forum, let alone commenting. Where were you on the day of Oct. 31 1969?

A new year is almost upon us and our family looks forward to being able to knowing what happened so many years ago. For families of missing people it is always about hope, and never giving up and it is also about learning to ignore the idiots who have nothing good in their lives so they try and impose their hopelessness on others through these types of blogs, but obviously benevolent doesn't get it he only displays the moron he is every time he posts. Once again, to all others thank you for your thoughts and for caring.

Not sure what prompts people like benevolent and semper fi to feel anyone is the least bit interested in the garbage they post, but I guess they need to try and find some sense of worth any way they can....but sadly what they have you say is even less than useless it's basically a waste of words. As always our family extends our thanks to those who post got the right reasons and as usual will simply write off the idiots who use this space to get some weird satisfaction.

I grew up in Oscoda. My name was Patricia Louise Spencer. I was in Jr. High when all this happened but I remember it. I used to work at Ewings and cashed my checks in Gilberts Drug Store where Arlene worked. Many times someone would "fetch" her from the back room when they saw my name on the checks as Patricia Spencer. There were 3 Patricia Spencers in that Jr. High at the time, one in 6th grade (me), one in 7th and one in 8th. The missing girl was the one in 8th I believe ..along with Pamela Hobley. I have a sister named Pam so we were asked why we left home by so many of the other students. Of course it wasn't us but I remember feels of such sadness for their families. I have been away from the area for a long time and wondered what had happened to the investigation. I also remember such feelings of sadness that my name brought Arlene to see my name on those checks and maybe have hope, just to see her let down. For some reason I felt responsible even though there is no way I could avoid it. Arlene was always so nice to me, but I could see that sadness in her eyes. I hope and pray these families get closure on this. Thanks for reading this.

I went to school in Oscoda and knew Patty and Pam....this has haunted me as well all of these years. I touched base with Mark David a couple of years ago and he told me that nothing was ever found. My heart breaks for all of you, thank you for never giving up...These were two innocent little girls that did nothing to deserve whatever happened to them....it has haunted many of us that attended OHS...I am sad to hear that Arlene passed away never knowing what happened to her precious Patty and that Pam's mom never had a chance to know what happened to her precious daughter. Thank you Betty and Mary, they were so loved and we pray for resolution. They have not been forgotten, my prayers and hope are with you both....
